Bob & Tom Move To Rock 101?

rockchicktx said:
My point was this when it comes to the old debate about "local vs syndicated." Yes, I would prefer local shows over syndicated...but any jock worth their weight can hear that alot of times, the local shows just don't measure up. There are crappy national shows (Lia, Countdowns, anything on that True Country station, XM) and there are crappy local shows. It works the other way too...it's just that these days you have to look at a show for what it is, regardless of where it comes from. Is it good? Is it not? Like I said before, I'm for GREAT RADIO...so if there is a show out there better than the one that's airing, it should be on. It forces everyone to be better, atleast it should. Unfortunately companies have given up on developing young talent (so local is suffering) and radio is no longer a destination point for young talent.

But when you say that a show should be on a shift over another just because "it's local," you should hope it's on because it's a good product. Not just because it broadcasts from 50th street or something. If I was a pd I would look at the options, and if my local guy's kicking butt then awesome. If he's not, then I'm looking for something better, and if that is a show that comes out of Yakima, Washington...bring it on.

The problem is, there just isn't enough great radio being done...regardless of it's origin.

GOOD RADIO costs $$$$$$ so, there won't be any good radio for awhile.

I just love how some people are trying to push some sort of on air radio war between Rock 101 and FMX.
This is not likely to happen.

It's my understandings that the folks at Rock and FMX have a competitive respect for each other.

Sure they want to beat the other one to a bloody pulp when it comes to ratings. But in this tough economy we all hate to hear about lay off's and pay cuts.

That said I have never found it wise to poke jabs at somebody who may have the power to hire you in the near future.

Also that snot nosed kid with the shiny new degree might annoy you. But be careful he might be your boss someday.

and yes, someday you'll be sorry you gave the little prick, that wedgie.

HEY GUYS,
Save it for the air, would ya?

KFMX vs. Rock 101 is a great fight ON THE AIR!

Please don't waste your jabs on a message board that nobody (by nobody, I mean "listeners") reads. Make some promos (both of ya).
Take it from me, I used to work for Jacor...

If you are referring to me... my posts were never meant to be a JAB at anyone. I was simply having an entertaining conversation. Also, I read somewhere on here that 101 and FMX have mutual respect for each other... with all due respect... that is so far from the truth. Trust me.

Now, I have to say that I have been amazed by the amount of RADIO STATION TV spots that I have been seeing. Yes, the stations running them have their own TV stations which is really convenient. However, I do have to say that I laughed out loud when I saw the one's for "KNOW YOUR TEJANO". Simply because of the GAME SHOW HOST. Of course the other spots for the other stations are pretty standard and "YAWN" basic crap. But props to MAGIC, I believe it is, and their TV spots.

i'm growing tired of reading posts about the battle between fmx & rock 101! are there any other stations in town, what about Starz and Mix and...............

Heeeeyyy... Goofy question:

Doesn't Bob and Tom already have a foot in Houston?
They are carried on BigDog 106 (KIOC) out of Beaumont.
With the Tower out of Vidor, doesn't the signal reach Harris County?

hmmm...

Yeah, Starz and Mixx..............that would be about a 2 second conversation. What about Beat and Hot....oh...they're flipping to sports. How about the famous country battle? Or...

okay how bout this what format do you take over to kkam after they are over in a couple of months? OR they're used to 1 shares does it matter?

Cspot, do you honestly think a sports station with a crummy FM rimshot signal and a canned sports format of stale syndicated shows will make KKAM roll over and die just like that? And question, why did they 104.3 take ESPN instead of Fox sports? I bet KKAM becomes Fox sports.

Cspot, please don't be offended by my question but, do you work for Ramar?

ahh... yah!.. c'mon it's FM BABY!

because ESPN is the Sports Franchise, and IF you're a sports station, you're nothing in Lubbock without TT sports.

maybe yes, maybe no, but would you have to work for Ramar to understand that?

all that being said, an all sports station even on FM with ESPN & TT sports would do well if they crack a 3 share. but it will be easier to sell than HIP-HOP.

I don't follow?

I thought this thread was about Bob & Tom moving. I guess the move really didn't mean much to anyone if no one is talking about it.

I never cared about Bob & Tom before. However, now that they are on at night, there are times when I turn to Rock 101 for music and instead hear talk. I don't need to hear talk on Rock 101.1 at night. Why would I want to hear an 8 hour old show with stale news instead of music?

I think there was no need for Rock 101.1 to put them on at all.

They're on at night? You've got to be kidding me? I don't obviously listen to 101... so that is a surprise to me. Is that because ******* & Billy are still on in the AM for the time being? Then Bob & Weave will drop to AM? If that's not the case and Bob & Weave will remain at night... that is honestly a really bad move. Really bad move. The only thing I could think that would maybe drive 101 to do that would to maybe, and I stress MAYBE take on the dude at night on FMX. He's got interviews etc... going on during his show. However, now that I think about it.... it wouldn't even come close to the amount of talk that Bob & Weave would have going on. So, with that being said... I honestly couldn't see why 101 would do that. It can't be permanent... can it?

it's hard to believe the SAME people are responsible for KLLL! they would never do anything that stupid with that station, and that's why they're #1.

Gotta' be talking about TV...
Bob and Tom on WGN at night. Just a Video version of the Morning Show from that morning.
But this raises another question.
Is BigDog106 going away?

I think you'll get better responses to your questions if you post a separate thread for both of those, since this is primarily a Lubbock radio based thread.
I don't eve know what BigDog106 is.

But good luck.

To clarify-the programming minds at 101 in Lubbock Texas are playing the Bob and Tom Morning show AS evening programming. It can't be that good a move, first Bob and Tom listeners have moved away from the radio by that time and secondly, if they cared enough to "tune in" then they probably would turn on the t.v. version.
