Boston radio ratings October 2020

I know that. I just thought they'd keep running some sort of low or no-cost automated programming on it like some of the others.

That would be nice, but I guess additional subchannels are money pits for stations that aren't using them to feed translators. Stations here in Connecticut have dropped some music subchannels in favor of talk (from co-owned AM stations). And Connecticut Public Radio refuses to do anything with HD but duplicate its main signal on HD1. Irritates me no end when I go to Vermont and find little VPR putting classical on HD2 and the BBC World Service on HD3 on its news/talk stations.

Really doesn't matter where the show broadcasts from

Howard from NYC was great.

Michigan talk on the other hand ......

I lost interest quite quick

Better a year too early than a year too late is the philosophy of Bill Belichick so maybe they are going with that if they do make a big switch.

I am wondering when WBOS will get some heat ?
Not for this market, morning show and now falling backwards again in the ratings.

The morning show finishes ahead of Greg Hill on some days which is apparently not hard to do thesedays.

We don't know who or where but twitter is buzzing about a potential "unthinkable format change" tomorrow with a company CEO landing in that market....may not be this one...but who knows. (Via @radioinsight tweet
Scott Fybush adds if this is true he'll get the details up at Northeast Radio Watch.

Well, it almost been a week, and there hasn't appeared to be any real "unthinkable" format change at all. Was it all just hype, or did the CEO decide to be a chicken out, Or was it that poorly kept secret about the Entercom Sports deal instead?

I just read that KYW is now simulcasting on the FM frequency at 103.9 in Philly. Was this supposed to be the big thing this week? I find the move hardly "unthinkable!"

As part of this exchange, Entercom got all-sports WTEM-AM + FM translator in Washington DC.

The "unthinkable" flip might be WJFK-FM flipping from sports talk to some music format.

Except that WJFK is billing as much as WTEM... the two sports stations are both decent billers. And both are top 10 billers in the market.

Of course, in that market WTOP bills as much as the next 6 stations combined and takes a full 30% of the total market billing!

I have no revenue research on two competing sports stations owned by the same company. Can they expect to retain that billing once they're co-owned?

Isn't that why Entercom was forced to divest WBZ-FM?

In Boston, the two sports stations had 25% of the market billings, while in DC the two have 8.5%. The issue in Boston was both stations were FM and combined they had a dominant revenue situation as well as control of all the major sports play by play events.

I'm assuming that the major revenue and share differences made a difference.
