Brandi Garcia

If they were going to blow something up, they would go after some of that KODA money. KBXX is short money by comparison, and urban is hard to sell in Texas.

I see KMJQ outbilling KODA and KBXX tied for the last full year.

Just caught the tail end of a news story on Fox 26 that mentioned something to the effect that Brandi Garcia is out at the Box. Anyone have any details?

I, like some of you, also don't listen to hip-hop/urban/r&b stations, which explains why I have no clue as to who Brandi is or what a Trae is.

...that's it.

::)

Anyway, there was a feature in last month's Houston Press that was pretty interesting about the whole thing. Garcia teased she'd be back sooner than later but it seems like it just a TV show she's got coming out. Other than that, no new developments that I'm aware of.

In this day in age she should have known you don't play you're own music. Even with corporate mentality dictates not even to play a song out of rotation you can get the axe. What she needs to do is forget the publicity tours about her dismissal and work on getting a real job OUT OF RADIO.

Uh, when she did play that song that Radio One fired her for she wasn't even on air or at a sponsored event. She was DJing an event that had nothing to do with the station or Radio One Houston at all rather local promoters from Houston. The brass at Radio One Houston are just being vindictive and it shows with the lack of tact they have been expressing with the whole situation...

Yep, reading is fundametal. She was hosting a gig on her own time.

Does your employer have the right to fire you for playing a song from
an artist he despises at your sister's wedding? At a family barbeque? Can he fire you for having it on your own iPod?

I guess so, in an at-will, nonunion state. But it should in no way reflect upon her abilities to do her job. She wasn't fired for breaking the playlist at work.

Meanwhile, Trae and Radio One dropped their lawsuits on Trae Day but neither side is giving any details, according to a KRIV report linked on the front page.
