Bruce Palmer to do mornings begining Feb 25th

The True Oldies channel that is taking place of the Score on AM is going to be a satelite show coming in from another station if my info serves me correct. It's basically like Mike FM. only, if there are DJ's there not in the building, and all the stop-sets have to timed exactly, with every spot being a :30 or :60 on the dot.

You seem like you are young so I am going to help you out with this one.Not mocking you

True this is a 24/7 network not a simulcast of another station.Just because its 24/7 does mean the local station (790 WPRV) for example does not have to carry a service like this the entire time. With arrangements they are allowed to break away. With a case like this one,True Oldies is distributed by ABC/Citadel.Imus is also distributed by ABC/Citadel.So they can carry both with no cost at the local level. It's free programming as far as WPRV is concerned.

Now I am not going to say that This what's going to happen with Bruce or not.If Bruce approaches Management and states he can bring in sponsors or buy the block of time to a price they both agree on 790 could probably break away from the network.

Now I know Bruce can bring in sponsors. That's the biggest thing.Bruce's knowledge of the era of music they play and his local name recognition all blended into one would be a nice fit. This would also put some localism into an AM that would ordinarily have none.Although it would not be a ratings buster It would be popular to a decent size niche for the time slot.

Another example is WDDZ AM550 which airs the mouse 24/7 would break away to air Providence Bruins hockey.I'm not sure if they still do though.

Now Chris Dipalo's 88.1 in Westerly carries K-LOVE Christain ontemporary rock which they lease from him. He is not allowed to break away at all from thier programming unless he has to air importantant news, weather, kiss your butt goodbye because we were nuked typed stuff that could affect the people in Westerly .So it depends on the arrangement that both parties agree on.

Since TRUE OLDIES and Imus are ABC owned and Bruce seems to be all over the place with Citadel and own all three there really is'nt anyone to negotiate with but themselves.

I hoped I helped you somewhat to the best of my knowledge.

Touche!

As of this morning, Bruce and the morning show finally got that traffic reporter. His name is Matt Phipps (I'm assuming it's spelled Phipps unless its Fipps or something else).

However, Bruce did mention that, even though it's Matt's first day on the Pike, he is actually filling in for whomever the eventual regular traffic reporter will be. :D

So Engel covers news and entertainment. Phipps and then whomever covering traffic. Maybe an actual meteorologist will be up next for weather updates.

There is a scrolling flash across the top of www.Cruisinbruce.com that reminds listeners to tune in Sunday to Lite Rock 105 but adds that a huge newsflash is coming this week about ANOTHER Providence station.

So he's got his morning show at Worcester's Pike-FM, Saturdays and/or Sundays at Lite Rock 105...and now possibly a third gig at another station??? Or maybe it's replacing Lite Rock?? Hmmmmmmm......
just went to crusin bruce web site and now there is no menchion of him "makin a return to the providence air waves as the pike morning show continues to grow" anymore... witch makes me assume the whatever deal he had in the works must have fell threw... cause i remember seeing the flash on his website also

Yup, that notice disappeared many days ago. I was thinking that maybe it was because he had added all the stuff about the upcoming car shows and such but maybe not. The notices about his weekend work at Lite Rock 105 disappeared as well but, again, the carshow appearances may have curtailed the Lite Rock 105 shows.

We may never know. ;D

The scrolling announcement is back up on cruisinbruce.com. Says a delayed "Providence airwaves announcement' will be forthcoming later this week.

Did you ever think that he might be doing that, just to mess with you ? I mean, you keep going back there and checking his website... :)

ummmmm i highly doubt that buddy.... considering 90% of the people who visit the site are car enthousiests like he is... and are there for the car show info (myself included sence i own a classic) and every bit of radio info he has posted in the last few yrs. ive been going to his site has bee 100% accurate so i highly doubt he would start "messing" with people now

Well we finally know the scoop. If you like yourself some Bruce Palmer, you've got plenty of time during the day to find him.

He'll continue with Worcester's 100FM The Pike morning show from 6am to 10am and he will have afternoon drive on Providence True Oldies 790AM from 3pm to 7pm.
