It's basically like Mike FM. only, if there are DJ's there not in the building, and all the stop-sets have to timed exactly, with every spot being a :30 or :60 on the dot.
You seem like you are young so I am going to help you out with this one.Not mocking you
True this is a 24/7 network not a simulcast of another station.Just because its 24/7 does mean the local station (790 WPRV) for example does not have to carry a service like this the entire time. With arrangements they are allowed to break away. With a case like this one,True Oldies is distributed by ABC/Citadel.Imus is also distributed by ABC/Citadel.So they can carry both with no cost at the local level. It's free programming as far as WPRV is concerned.
Now I am not going to say that This what's going to happen with Bruce or not.If Bruce approaches Management and states he can bring in sponsors or buy the block of time to a price they both agree on 790 could probably break away from the network.
Now I know Bruce can bring in sponsors. That's the biggest thing.Bruce's knowledge of the era of music they play and his local name recognition all blended into one would be a nice fit. This would also put some localism into an AM that would ordinarily have none.Although it would not be a ratings buster It would be popular to a decent size niche for the time slot.
Another example is WDDZ AM550 which airs the mouse 24/7 would break away to air Providence Bruins hockey.I'm not sure if they still do though.
Now Chris Dipalo's 88.1 in Westerly carries K-LOVE Christain ontemporary rock which they lease from him. He is not allowed to break away at all from thier programming unless he has to air importantant news, weather, kiss your butt goodbye because we were nuked typed stuff that could affect the people in Westerly .So it depends on the arrangement that both parties agree on.
Since TRUE OLDIES and Imus are ABC owned and Bruce seems to be all over the place with Citadel and own all three there really is'nt anyone to negotiate with but themselves.
I hoped I helped you somewhat to the best of my knowledge.
