BULLETIN...BULLETIN...WTVY AIRSTAFF WALKS

People leave jobs everyday does that me they are due some type of karma for wanting to do better for themselves? All of us that have been in radio know that there is no such thing as a two week notice. If you say your leaving you are gone that day. Seven employees handed in a notice and seven employees left and have hopefully found better for themselves. I wish them all well.

As seen on AllAccess.com...

"With that statement in mind, POLLARD is wasting no time -- she and ELIZABETH PARRISH will be joining cross-town competitor, GULF SOUTH COMMUNICATIONS Classic Country WDBT on a temporary basis -- POLLARD for mornings and PARRISH for nights."

What is going to happen KC, and Big Mike? How temporary is temporary? Is there a long term plan going in effect? Inquiring minds want to know...

Some people never learn their lessons...

Found out from someone that "was" on the inside, that an ad place recently for a morning show was for WTVY and the new OM or GM, what ever he is, Kris VanDyke is the reason everyone has left.

This reported on allaccess...

WTVY Staff Walks, Lots Of Openings
Walk Out

MAGIC BROADCASTING Country WTVY/DOTHAN OM/PD KRIS VAN DYKE has confirmed that basically his entire air-staff has left the building. Morning personalities AMIE POLLARD and KEN CARLILE (“POLLARD and KC in the MORNING”), checked out late yesterday afternoon (07/21), suddenly after 5-years on the air together.

Of course it was KVD, it had to be! That doesn't take rocket science. He is someone who was previously worked in the market, has expirence and was doing his job, in the process Amie's undergarments got wadded and she threw a fit and walked. It's amazing that the whole staff made the "under garments in wad" pact.

I feel a quote of the great book is needed to guide its followers...

Personal I think its about time somebody had the nerve to stand up to PC.. the sad thing is Jeff Story probably isn't too worried about the situation right now- in his mind they can hire a whole new morning show for less than what Pollard is making...Oh but soon enough he will.. When their revenue is half of what it is now maybe he'll learn "you get what you pay for!!" I hate it for RR- he's a good guy-we all know what happens if you try to stand up to PC, ask Greg. for the rest of the WTVy staff get out while you can- WTVY is done.. Regardless if you like Amie Pollard or not- she has never done anything half way. I believe she has enough ammo to pull this one off. Let the games begin!!!

Well stated Pug

Jeff Story doesn't care right now but if there is one thing I know for a fact is the wiregrass will take care of their own and even if you don't like Amie P

she is still one of your own.

Stewy I got to borrow your style for a hot second and pull a movie quote

Jeff Story you are not a afraid of the revenue loss

You will be you will be - Yoda -The Empire strikes back ;D

What would be funny is if they set up voicetracking for all shifts on WTVY from Don in California, and showed everybody how they could STILL win the ratings and revenue game.

Put Kris Van Dyke at mornings with some local person that everybody knows...and have everything else sent in through an audio server.

The small minds of Market 192 would buy it.

Well, well, well. I can't say that I'm surprised...And it couldnt have happened to a better company :D

After all, this is Tragic we're talking about...The company that, even under the Styles name, almost encourages in-fighting and back stabbing. It used to be JS and the Magician turning the KMX Enterprise and Styles Dothan staffs against one another. Then, JS splitting PCB and Dothan staffs. And this is how it all played out!

I'm not sure why all the broo haha though. It's not like this makes AP a saint...She just did what she always does. Makes a big stink if she doesn't get her way, and always looks out for her and only her. It sounds like she'd been planning this with TRP so as to keep herself in a job either way her tantrum played out.

After so many changes in the past 2-3 years, I'm not sure revenue at Tragic can get much worse. After all, 50% of $0 is still zero ::)

If Tragic had actually held former employees to non-competes in the past, then maybe they'd have some legal ground to stand on. But with JS telling so many people they could walk if they weren't happy and he'd let them out of their non-compete, I'm not sure they can stop anyone from crossing the street.

I wonder if KVD nose how to get a handle on the situation. I mean, come on...After reading what happened on allaccess, would YOU then apply there?

Is this pure speculation or fact? Care to name names?

I could name names...mine are mainly from the seventh floor (sales)...And back when Greg was GM...But without their permission, I won't do so in a public forum.

The people who are involved know who they are.

non-compete clauses are not valid in alabama. this has been proven time and time again.

good luck crew. hope you find something worthwhile to pay the bills.

You have to admit, it must have been pretty bad for all of them to leave, Amie is extremely passionate about what she does and others don't always agree with her, however, the 6 employees who walked with her were not led out like sheep to a slaughter, they did it on their own! They were all threatened by the powers that be (and not just the OM) to kiss up or lose their jobs. Management by intimidation. The Tragic way.

This scenerio is what many people dream about when they are trapped in a bad situation but stay because they have to get a paycheck. Just like in the movies!

It's was that way before Tragic. Tragic learned intimidation and kiss up in "styles".

But if we look in the good book....

Book Of Magic Chapter 10 Verse 53

In the tower the battle waged! The queen sensing defeat choose to exile trying to save herself; her peseant confused and unknowing followed. In the new land the queen is no more. New battle fronts will emerge to see if she can regain a throne. Thus a new age and beginnng shall be amoung us.

Quoting Lance Griffin in this morning's edition of the Dothan Eagle, "The on-air quartet has referred all comment to their attorney, Sam Cherry". Further quoting from the article, Lance Griffin quotes Sam Cherry, "It is my belief after extensive interviews that circumstances were presented that prevented them from performing their jobs as contemplated at the time they first started with the station".

My, my.

Oh yeah, this thread remains at the top of the most read threads. Maybe there should be a motto like - Market 192 Entertaining the Entertainers.

Oh Pnut you did not read Chapters 1-9:

So the new Kingdom was set up and it was named Tragic and the new King began his reign. But the subjects were not fond of this new king and his jokers. Therefore, one by one the subjects chose to leave the kingdom in search of a better place. Thirty-five of them in all, gone, in the first year of the new King and his jokers. The King noticed that he was losing his gold, and the counters tried to tell him, "we are losing our gold what will happen to our kingdom?" The King was arrogant and did not listen, "I have enough gold these subjects must worship me!" It became necessary for the new King to bring in new subjects again and again, and one by one they would leave. The queen and a few of her loyal subjects remained in the kingdom. The King began to lose his power over the subjects and their queen.

The King then ordered that the queen and her subjects worship him or be banned from the kingdom. Secretly the queen and her subjects planned an escape from the evil King and his jokers to a new kingdom. ......

I have to say this is a sad day for market 192. For something to be so bad that the entire staff of 95.5 walks. What are the owners doing? Letting things get so bad that they loose an entire station. I do mean loose.....Not just the staff but the revenue that will go with them. All I can say is good Luck Amie, KC, Big Mike and Miss Elizabeth and you sales staff, I'm sure we will be hearing from you again. And to you, Magic Broadcasting....You better wake up and smell the rotten cabbage you have brewing in your own kitchen before you loose it all.

My friends, this kind of crap has been going on for years it just that most don't walk out or one or two walk. Radio is full of people like these owners. I love radio just as much as you do but in many cases it's a very shady business. The station is wounded but WILL recover. I hope the air talent finds something better. They deserve it!

Beg to differ with you miniature aggressive canine. pnut was there as were you when the prologue was written.

Ahhh Stewart of Enterprise, you must be one of the subjects that left the Kingdom while the prince was not yet King....that would have been Chapter 3.

The prince who became king only followed the foot steps of the dictatorship that covered chapter 1,2,& 3. So all the chapters of the working conditions, is history just repeating itself!

So we all know that the queen jumps into something full speed of ahead, and deserves credt where credit is due, but that is few and far between when done properly. We all have also seen the wrath of the queen when someone points out a different way to accomplish the same goal, that is not what she said to do. She made promises to the fellow staffers of TVY that, for their sake, are fullfilled.
