Cable systems that cross market lines

Paul Bunyan Telecom crosses from both Minneapolis market (even though Minneapolis is 200 miles away) and Duluth market
They **mainly** have separate locals but there are some that cross over

-The Minneapolis side carries NBC from Fargo (even though none of the counties are in the Fargo market
-The Duluth side they carry CBS & PBS from the Minneapolis side (along with Duluth CBS). The one county in the Duluth market can pick up KCCW (CBS) and KAWE (PBS) rather easily

But those systems are within one DMA (NYC and Philly respectively). This thread is about systems that cross market lines.

Phillipsburg, NJ is covered by Service Electric that generally services the Lehigh Valley.

While there is a separate lineup for Phillipsburg, viewers do not get WABC TV on HD but instead get WPVI HD.

In the past, there was Patriot Media cable that served Princeton and Somerset County, NJ and the Princeton lineup didn't have all the Philly stations because it was more influenced from the Somerset County point of presence.

Patriot Media was absorbed by Comcast, and Comcast now offers the same lineup in Trenton and Princeton as far as I know, including all or most of all of the Philly must-carries.

Charter (Springfield, NE - Omaha DMA) also covers Waverly, NE (Lincoln DMA).

Waverly is only ~8 miles from the northeast city limits of Lincoln, but Charter carries only the Omaha stations in HD. They carry the Lincoln ABC and CBS stations in SD only, as well as an entirely-redundant second PBS feed in SD. Nebraska has a statewide PBS network where all channels are identical, so there is no point whatsoever in carrying both the Omaha and Lincoln channels. (In my opinion, they should replace the redundant PBS with Lincoln's NBC --a DT2 subchannel-- at minimum, since I do realize it might be impossible to receive Lincoln's Fox station over-the-air at the Charter head-end in Springfield. Though licensed as a full-power, the Lincoln Fox affiliate operates at LP levels.)

Time Warner Leesville OH (Carroll County - Cleveland DMA)
Carries all Cleveland locals except WVIZ, CW and Univision.
Also serves Bowerston (Harrison County - Wheeling-Steubenville DMA).
No ESPN2 or FOX News; no digital, HD or VOD.

It appears Leesville and Bowerston are now served by TWC's much better Dover-New Philadelphia system.

The original link led to a 404 Error page. I then entered Leesville's ZIP code (44639) and it led me to the Dover lineup. Yet when I enter the same ZIP Code on Zap2it, it still lists the old Leesville channels.

Two cable companies - Mediacom and Liberty Communications - serve both West Liberty IA (Quad Cities DMA) and West Branch IA (Cedar Rapids DMA). Both companies' lineups tend to lean toward Cedar Rapids, with all of that market's network affiliates carried in HD. As for the Quad Cities stations, only WHBF is carried in HD on Mediacom, while KWQC, WQAD, KLJB and WQPT are in HD on Liberty.

Mediacom has since added KWQC, WQAD, KLJB and Iowa PBS in HD.

Time Warner Winnie TX (Houston DMA) also serves Hamshire (Beaumont DMA). Oddly, no local channels are carried in HD from either market, just the national networks.

With Winnie having switched to TWC's new "national" lineup, you can't tell whether a channel is in HD or SD unless you have an HDTV set. At least it carries all the Houston stations plus ABC, FOX and CBS Beaumont.

KAWE is the only PBS carried on either system. No KTCA/KTCI or WDSE

KTCA & KTCI while in the Minneapolis DMA just like KAWE is not carried in most areas where KAWE/KAWB has "rights" to PBS. The further you get from Minneapolis the less the chance of KTCA being on cable

WDSE never made it to the Iron Range (Itasca and Koochiching Counties) but they did recently put up a satellite WRPT in the area that they **could** use. Like I say those 2 counties are in the Duluth market and should be getting WDSE/WRPT.

Nice that the links are correct, with WRAL as NBC and WNCN as CBS. Cable companies don't always fact check like that.
