cbs flip of

I heard the Thunderkiss 65 from White Zombie too. Heard it parking the car at Macaroni Grill, then again when leaving after eating dinner. Weird.

might be just me, but their online stream is REALLY bad right now...i AM seeing the "playing now" slot on their website though...Kid Rock - Bawitdaba, Crazy Town - Butterfly, and Metallica - Master of Puppets!? hrmmmmm...

another prediction, should this go through tommorrow...expect to hear aLOT of JRR noise about it...they have been waiting for this day for YEARS!

They've tried the "we play what you want" before. It may be a ploy or last ditch effort, but if things go the way they always do with that station, the reigns will be pulled in tight as soon as it starts to work or sink in with the audience. I've heard the lines too many times (less restrictive music list and the flipping formats) to totally buy into it.

Whatever it is they're doing, at least we're talking about it.

i dont think its a "we play anything" positioning...i think its a "let the jocks play what they want and maybe when they come in tommorrow they will already have figured out that they don't have jobs anymore"...

I'm beginning to think the on-air staff knows what people want to hear better than the PD's since they get requests directly. Too bad radio isn't like that anymore where the on-air staff actually answers calls for requests 24/7. That's why I'm taking advantage of being on WPRK 91.5, where we volunteers get to play pretty much whatever we want & there's actually a live person there 24/7. (Oops, tangent.)

On O-Rock 105.9, I used to listen to DJ Sandy's "SNM" at 9pm until they moved it to midnight & took out the beatmixing & made it a 'mash-up'. That was the only time I listened to that station. Every once in a while, there's something good, but it doesn't keep me locked for longer than 5 minutes. The people who listen to this station probably has some form of ADD to begin with regarding to ratings.

So far this morning all I've heard is music and sweepers. No jocks.... uh oh, sounds like something is gonna happen today.

There's now a placeholder on O-rock's website. It reads:

Happy New Year Orlando,

A great new radio station is heading your way, so be sure to check back often!

In the meantime you can continue to LISTEN LIVE and hear the station evolve. See you soon!

:(

They flipped at 10am and are currently playing the History Of Rock!!!!

Did they really think CBS was going to keep a 100KW signal running that format with less than a two share!!!

Come on people!!!

Did you really not see it coming???

More to come next week!!!

I never like to see anyone out of work. My best goes out to my former O-Rock cohorts.

The Artist Formerly Known As Silent Rob

That's what I will do. Drake's show certainly can run all weekend.

So what's it going to be named....Sunny as reported here? Or the KOOL moniker of the past, and present with CBS.

I went to the same college with CBS's head of oldies programming Keith Abrams. Certainly, CBS continues to do the best job with
the classic hits/oldies formats.

**jerk alert**

of course, i may be wrong...time will tell...BUT...i think there is a better chance of CBS hiring back the OROCK staff and turning alternative back on then seeing the name Kool, or Cool on 1059...Kool and Cool are super-associated with OLDIES...and if you've been reading this post, or see any sort of trends happening on these type of stations nationwide, you will notice we use the words..."Classic Hits"...sure, Classic Hits is just "newer oldies"...but not as old as a Kool or Cool moniker would suggest...

plus...how is a classic hits station supposed to work in this, or any city, if you cant progress past the past?...

heres a contradiction, but i wouldnt be opposed to bringing back some of the Cool/Big guys? the ones that are still around at least...JJ is in the Midwest, and i dont think Chris Rivers is still around...Bob Berry? Mike Harvey? who knows!!!
