There's no doubt for whatever reason they aren't playing some bonified hits. I was surprised to see they left Sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto out of the S's, but then again they've played a lot of stuff that's been left in the cobwebs. I'm a regular listener to WCBS-FM on the web, oddly enough it sounds like they are also NOT running that junk web-based advertising, but local ads (even though I realize most are national level). Their sales department is also having a bonanza week!
Sirius Satellite used to carry WSM, what would be really great is if they carried WCBS-FM. In spite of commercials, I'd still be willing to pay Sirius just to hear WCBS-FM on one of their channels.

Well, each market has its ups and downs. KRTH is still a great, legendary station, although I must say I do prefer CBS-FM, but I'm probably biased. I've listened to KRTH a couple of times, and it's an enjoyable, upbeat station. But, I've read many comments similar to yours about KRTH's playlists and "themed weekends," which wind up to be, basically, their playlist again. Although, CBS-FM's themed weekends (outside of the major specialty features like this A-Z) usually only spotlight one song per hour. So, essentially, CBS-FM does a similar thing. I see this month we can expect a "Class Reunion Weekend" on the station as well as "Christmas in July." I can see the threads now about Christmas music in July...
I'm sure the programming department at CBS-FM still has a lot up their sleeves. It's really great to know what an amazing staff 101.1 has not only on the air, but behind the scenes, and apparently, now in the engineering department!![]()

Nevertheless, I envy Southern California for having an AC station like KOST, while we're stuck with WLTW. If I'm in the mood for true "Lite" music, I stream the KOST.

Rick Stacy just mentioned that he played "Time" from the Alan Parsons project on vinyl. It's amazing that I survived on Lite-fm, WMGQ, and Fresh (and of course, a healthy dose of my I-Pod and CDs) for two years while 101.1 was JACK. Looking back, I don't know how I did it! Regardless, it's great to have CBS-FM back and much better than ever before.
Scooty430 ....In the context of LOVING this countdown, I do want to say that chopping off Stairway To Heaven at about 3 minutes in was a mistake. If you're gonna play it, you gotta play the whole thing! But....minor complaint.

By the way, anyone notice that "Roundabout" was on vinyl? You could hear the pops and clicks. They could obviously get a digital copy in a snap, so that's a nice touch to throw on some vinyl here and there. Perhaps they needed a short version....

Secondly, this thing happened like TWO weeks back - I saw it on another board - I just think it's awful on O&A's part, but then again, they're just jealous of CBSFM's success...(although I do remember one interesting incident on "that day"
when one of O&A's people asked both me and my friend some REAL NASTY questions about some of the guys the station had back then - both my friend and i were shocked - we don't DO nasty....) 8)
and thirdly, I can't believe the A-Z weekend is ALMOST OVER!!But i gotta tell you - it's been SO GREAT...all i'm thinking now is that the station's celebrating the ONE-YEAR anniversary of its rebirth on July 12 - how are they going to top this past week??
