Despite the advance notice that CBS gave in March about the end of the radio network, most affiliates have not announced what will replace CBS Top of the Hour newscasts on May 23. Audacy, the biggest owner of CBS News Radio affiliates, has not said what happens after Friday night. As you can see below, nearly all Audacy news and talk stations except WINS would at least run CBS network news overnight, even if they didn't run the network on weekdays during the day.
Here are the Audacy affiliates that carry CBS newscasts...
KNX Los Angeles ... All-News
WBBM Chicago ... All-News
KRLD Dallas ... All-News AM and PM weekdays ... Talk other hours
KCBS San Francisco ... All-News
KYW Philadelphia ... All-News (used network newscasts overnight)
WPHT Philadelphia ... Talk (used network newscasts nights and weekends)
WWJ Detroit ... All-News
WCCO Minneapolis ... Talk (used network newscasts nights and weekends)
KMOX St. Louis ... Talk (used network newscasts nights and weekends)
KNXT Las Vegas ... Talk
KDKA Pittsburgh ... Talk (used network newscasts nights and weekends)
WTIC Hartford ... Talk (used network newscasts nights and weekends)
And there are a few Talk stations that Entercom already owned before it acquired the former CBS stations. Those stations never ran CBS News even after the merger: KMBZ Kansas City, WBEN Buffalo, WRVA Richmond and WILK Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Even after the company became Audacy, those stations remained ABC affiliates. WYRD-FM in Greenville is a Fox affiliate.
Some big affiliates not owned by Audacy have also not said what happens after Friday night, such as WBZ Boston, KIRO-FM Seattle, KSL Salt Lake City, KXL-FM Portland OR, WGAN Portland ME, WPTF Raleigh and the POTUS channel on Sirius XM. WTOP Washington and Bloomberg Radio switched to ABC earlier this month.
One last note... KAOI is a CBS affiliate in Kihei, Hawaii. It's losing CBS in the middle of Friday PM drive time!
