Changes ahead for 700 WLW Mid-day Lineup??!!???

When I lived in Lafayette, IN, WLW still "seemed" louder than WGN.
As for Darryl Parks taking the shift, he has a lot of management responsibility not only with WLW but with the whole chain so its unlikely. McConnell being pulled off immediately? Ridiculous. Damn Helen Mays!

Bingo. Parks is way to busy to handle a 5 day a week talk show. Somebody mentioned Sterling, who I forgot about. I would like to see Sloanie 9a-noon and Sterling 9p-mid.

Sterling??? NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! He cannot pull a coherent sentence out of his mouth. Here's a novel thought-- Noon to 3pm with Seg Dennison!

WLW made the official announcement of McConnell's departure today for Chicago, effective immediately (if not sooner). Scott Sloan fills in for now. I wondered about the weekend show myself and whether WLW will still carry it. I'm gonna guess no.

McConnell is still on Premiere Radio's website for now; I wouldn't be surprised to see Scott Sloan get the gig in the coming weeks. WLW's program lineup on their site already lists Sloan as host of the "Weekend."

Premiere came out and said Mike will host The Weekend for a few more weeks and that's it. Then The Weekend will revert to the way it was before Mike inherited it, which is a show with rotating personalities.

Seg is great as a sidekick but can not handle a show. Even that racing show is horrible but race fans will live with it.

I never found Sterling interesting. I would not make much effort to tune him in.

Sloanie is ok and maybe he would grow on me more if he was on when I frequently listen.

Here's a novel idea--bring someone in from OUTSIDE the market! I don't have anyone specific in mind, but CC has quite an exstensive "farm system" to recruit from. It is not a sacrilegious approach!

I dunno. Maybe. Cincinnatians are funny about people perceived to be outsiders.

You could say the same about Chicagoans, from what I've read on all of their media boards people do not like what's happening with the changes at WGN.

And I am sure that syndicators are salivating at the thought of a CC juggling act in Cinci...but they would be crazy to move away from live and local there.

My guess is Willie is staying. My impression from his show yesterday is that a deal is on the table and he is weighing it. If the deal is decent, I think he will take it as I don't think he wants to go.

I would further guess Sloan will take Mike's spot and the station will see how he fares. Gary Jeff Walker could then be giving Sloan's night spot.

I wouldn't be so sure that Willie is staying. It will all hinge on if Tribune decides to pick up his TV show which will be taped in Chicago.

Jeff Katz filling in for Willie today.

I guess filling in. Try out for Willie or Mike? Posturing by CC?

I thought Jeff Katz was great when he was here, even though for a short time in 1994. I followed him at WIBC, too. I wonder if he ever found the perfect philly Cheese Steak in Cincinnati?

I liked Katz on WIBC. He's been in a million markets since then.
Late word is that McConnell has lost the Weekend show. How petty can CC be?
