I'd expect that from CC. No different than when Rick Dees left KIIS and the weekly top 40 was knocked off Premier.
I didn't really think this move was far off. I suspected SOMETHING was bound to be up with "Weekend". (By the way: TRI reports today that no, WLW WON'T carry the final weeks of the show.)
But then again: Who else does Premiere syndicate that ISN'T based at a CC station? Sean Hannity (WABC-AM 770/NYC, a Citadel station) and Rush Limbaugh (which also counts WABC as its flagship) are the two major ones. (And what's Glenn Beck's flagship?) Also, Dr. Laura Schlessinger's syndication is the other way around: it's broadcast from Premiere's satellite facility, but its syndication is handled by Talk Radio Network (in particular, affiliate relations are done by TRN), and not to mention the show is produced by Schlessinger's own Take on the Day Productions, LLC. Oh, AND its flagship, KFWB-AM 980/Los Angeles was formerly owned by CBS Radio (as it is now considered to be owned by a trust, though still run by CBS).
Glenn Beck is not based at a CC station. His New York City homebase affiliate is WOR, but he doesn't broadcast from the station.
Dr. Dean Edell broadcasts out of KGO, owned by Citadel. Art Bell, for the longest time, broadcast from Pahrump, NV from the station he owned and still does. Art's back in the Philippines for the time being. Randi Rhodes is in Washington, DC but has no affiliate there, so I wonder where she broadcasts? Out of the home?
Most of the entertainment programs Premiere syndicates are not produced by them and aren't based at CC stations, or in several cases any station.
Years ago when Fox Sports Radio's personalities were scattered everywhere they would be broadcasting from non CC stations, such as Jorge Sedano who was at Lincoln Financial Media's WAXY. Steve Czaban in his final year was at an ex CC station, WTEM, now owned by Red Zebra. Now most Fox Sports personalities are either at the Premiere facility in Sherman Oaks, or CC's KLAC in Burbank, including Tony Bruno who is not produced by CC/Premiere. Dan Patrick is also not produced by Premiere, but broadcasts from that palace of a studio in Connecticut. Stephen A. Smith is in New York City, I believe at a Premiere office. They don't have an NYC affiliate.
