Changes at KFI?

Generally speaking, the news/talk format is 60% men 40% women, median age is 60.

They are 86% white, 7% Hispanic, 5% black, 2% Asian. That may be different for LA.
It will be different in every market, based on the percentages of the different race and culture groups.

The figure of yours is likely national, right?

LA is now just under 25% non-Hispanic and non-First Generation immigrants. Any station, even KFI, has to take the population makeup in account.

As a fan of Conway since the beginning (2010), I know this is a demotion. But I'm excited to have him on evenings again. I've spent the last few years listening to his podcast in the car during his old time slot, just out of habit.
When talking about it, Conway made it sound like it was a positive move for him. He said he will bring back popular games like "What did Jesse Jackson say?". And with the new schedule he can start going back to the racetrack on Friday afternoons. The night version of Conway was a much looser show.

So he was right.

He sure was! Give him credit for that. In fact, I would say it was more than a minor change. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then (kidding).

He was right once, out of 52 columns a year, for how many years?

The squirrel had better odds.

Call me when he can do it consistently, instead of his usual "radio should go back to the way it was in the 1970s".

Wagoner just bought all the lottery tickets in a 50 mile radius of LA!

One mile for every kilowatt of KFI's signal!

Seriously, this proves that if he would concentrate on finding out what's going on now, rather than grasp at straws about the past, he could be a really good columnist. Sadly, I think everyone is so used to his usual modus operandi (including me) that when he does get something right it doesn't have a real impact on his credibility in the long term.

I honestly hope that this shows him what he can do if he stops dwelling on the past.

It's great seeing KFI throw money at programming. After the news cuts back in '24, I was turning sour on the station's future. I'd basically just podcast Conway and that was it. What was the point of tuning in?

But this rejuvenates my interest a little bit more. And -- (other than John and C2C) -- a lineup that I could listen to most of the day.

Glad KFI is moving Tim back
to evenings and John t late afternoons. They both sounded better to me in their former time slots; apparently many listeners agree.

KFI ended the Dr.Wendy Walsh show on Sundays 7-9 pm. On Instagram she said the show was eliminated due to iHeart budget cuts and layoffs. No word on replacement programming.

FYI, Mr. Nero, that format is now in its fourth year of operation at KRKE in Albuquerque, and the station owner says it's the easiest sell to advertisers he's experienced in years.

There is a big difference between Richard Wagoner writing columns on how radio was and me programming a focused Classic Hits format.

Nice try, though. Next time do a little research before trying to discredit someone.

Just a joke. And a solid one that I stand by.

Geez. you all are so serious. lighten up. You must be fun at parties.

There is a huge difference between a columnist in a dying newspaper who wishes radio "sounded" like it did 40 to 50 years ago and a station that programs today using music that huge sales demo, today, wants to hear. Today.

No, try to keep your criticisms of very valid formats in alignment with what large swatches of radio listeners want to hear. Today.

i enjoyed her friendly, usually cheerful, advice. Wish her the best in finding another good station or podcast.
