The fact that none of these networks haven't had a long-term anchor in years is sad. Until he died, Peter Jennings was at ABC for over 25 years. Until they retired, Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather were at NBC/CBS for just as long. I'm guessing with the demo dying off - count the medicine ads - they don't care about keeping someone 'long-term' anymore. Especially CBS, who is going through anchors like weekly trash removal. How long before the executive producer starts an anchor run?
I always wonder if NBC wanted Lester from the start but got stuck with Brian.Diane Sawyer was in the ABC seat for many years after Jennings and they seemed committed to Muir. NBC was committed to Brian Williams, but he imploded. I think Lester Holt is fairly safe. CBS is the only one really playing musical chairs IMO.
I always wonder if NBC wanted Lester from the start but got stuck with Brian.
Well, the new look for CBS Evening News will show up at some point, but the question is at what point? Do they wait 'til the traditional new season (early September), or do they jump into it earlier? My guess is they will go early. The days of big September premieres seem to be over. Just move on CBS...do what you need to do and show us!
July 15th debut. (Radio Patrol reported this earlier, but just putting a stamp on it). Washington DC locale, wonder what the set will look like?
I'm sure its the same set designer who did the new Face The Nation set. Probably very close to it.
CBS is operating in temporary facilities while the bureau at 2020 M Street is being rebuilt.
Wheres their temporary facilities? and why does it have to be rebuilt for.
CBS sold the building, it was demolished, and they will move back in when it's rebuilt. It was an old building.
CBS has nothing to lose by cycling through anchors, as poor as their ratings have been, in particular on the Evening News.
I'm hearing brand new graphics and a brand new type of set. I guess they need to change it up at this point.
Nikki Battiste, a CBS Newspath correspondent whose coverage of the Catholic Church sexual abuse scandal helped uncover allegations against a Texas priest who was still in active ministry, has been named a CBS News correspondent.
She’ll be based in New York and report for all CBS News broadcasts and platforms including CBS This Morning, CBS Evening News, CBS Sunday Morning and streaming service CBSN.
Battiste joined CBS News in 2017 as a freelance correspondent for Newspath – CBS’ 24-hour newsgathering service – and was made a staff correspondent for Newspath in 2018. Working with the CBS News investigative unit, Battiste and her team uncovered allegations of sexual abuse against a priest in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. After Battiste questioned Cardinal Daniel DiNardo about the allegations against the priest, the priest was removed from ministry. Battiste traveled to Rome last February to cover the Vatican summit addressing the abuse crisis.
