Re: Take Those Lemons And Make Lemonade!
WGBT doesnt' do news and Fox and WROC is one in the same. Like I said where is the criticsm for WHEC and WHAM when they mess up, because they do.
I'm sure it can be frustrating to watch the bottom station struggle for years and see the people who had been in the trenches for a long time mistreated. But while 8 may have had a solid staff under it's previous management, that didn't work in the ratings game. The team had talent, but viewers didnt' tune in. Now what. You ever thought about why viewers didnt' tune in. What's happening now may work, it may not. How about some suggestions, instead of all of this negativity.
As for the tornado, we live New York, did any of you really rearrange your plans because of the threat of a tornado? Please, this isn't Kansas. And if you don't think the J-Mac story was big, tell that to CBS Evening News. They aired their first report on J-Mac an unprecedented two nights in a row. While some stations in town couldn't see the impact of a feel good story, movie houses, the president, syracuse orange, cleveland cavs, etc were lining up to be a part of this. All of this happpened for this boy because of channel 8. Some of you say media and journalism is your thing, but journalism is not just about reporting the ugly, it's the good too. When was the last time the networks came to Rochester? Can you think of it. Well they all came for this, so yes J-Mac is the biggest story to hit Rochester. Just about everyone in the country has heard of this kid. If you don't think that's something worth celebrating you truly are clueless. And no J-mac isn't the only story the station broke. 8 broke stories on a regular basis under old management and new, 10 and 13 would follow behind the next day and claim it as their own, still do. Anyone who worked at 8 past and present knows that breaking and enterprising stories isnt' enough, viewers need to know you're the one's breaking the story and that is still a work in progress.
