On the subject of his role as radio host, Salem Radio Network will have a memorial show:

just a reminder, we had another thread about the shooting before the news broke that he died, and it went off the rails pretty quick and it was locked, so before this one gets locked, i would like to voice my opinions about this tragedy, i don't feel sorry for Charlie and his supporters, but i do feel bad for his wife, kids and family as his radical political views is what got him killed in the first place. and also, political violence is not the answer to solving the issues of why we are divided and the way this country is heading is the same as it was when it was pre-civil war times where America was divided to the point, it caused a war, i see another civil war coming and it's happening in our lifetime now, and what worse was, this tragedy occurred on the eve of the 24th Anniversary of 9/11, a event that united our country for a small period of time but in a way, the terrorist that caused 9/11 won in the end cause our country is falling apart, and it's something they wanted right away when the attacks happened. everything wrong with the world's geopolitical system today can go back all the way to the events of 9/11 period or even further then that.

Please STOP your personal political views. The other thread was closed for this very reason. It’s very unfortunate posters won’t stop. Very unfortunate. Charlie was a very very successful broadcaster and commentator and was publicly and violently murdered.

Now Paramount has to respond to an episode of South Park that contained a scene that was a parody at the time of the release but not so much now given the obvious. So far its been pulled from Comedy Central.

Comedy Central has pulled a recent "South Park" episode from its rotation in the wake of Charlie Kirk's fatal shooting.

Kirk, the founder of the conservative youth activist organization Turning Point USA, died Wednesday after he was shot during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

The "South Park" episode, a rerun featuring one of the show's main characters, Eric Cartman, parodying Kirk, was pulled from the network's scheduled rotation following Kirk's death.
The episode originally aired in early August and was scheduled for a rerun on Wednesday night.

Nobody deserves to be killed for having different opinions from yours. That is the opposite of democracy and freedom of speech.

Update Phoenix news crews have located the remains of Charlie Kirk landed at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. Also in Phoenix, Charlie Kirk and Trump supporters show up at the Arizona offices of Turning Point USA the group that was founded by Charlie Kirk to mourn the pundit.

There is a quote that I think might apply here. It has been falsely attributed to the French philosopher Voltaire, but it goes something like this: "I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it."

Leaving aside the politics (probably futile but I don't want to talk about the politics of it right now)... I was curious to see if Kirk's show cleared in Denver. Apparently not, not even on Salem's KNUS, which surprised me. With the caveat of possibly overgeneralizing from one example, though I couldn't find any station along the Front Range that carried his program, this then leads me to wonder about the clearance of his show generally, and whether the very crowded supply of extreme-right talkers adversely affected his show's distribution despite his high profile.

Personally, I have had neither good nor bad to say about him-- he was just there, the way I see it, and he was just expressing opinions, as we all have the right to do; I didn't listen to his show or his opinions, but I never wanted him dead.

"I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that -- it does a lot of damage."
-- Charlie Kirk
Context? The complete quote:

I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that — it does a lot of damage.
But, it is very effective when it comes to politics. Sympathy, I prefer more than empathy. That's a separate topic for a different time.

He was making a semantec point, not suggesting that people not be kind to each other.

I no nothing about this news source but, if true, it opens up a lot of questions about the FBI and the lack of coverage by the general media. I can't find anything about this on CNN's website.

A UVU student told CNN on Thursday that he twice saw a man walking on or near the Losee Center roof over the past two weeks. Though unsure if it was the same individual shown in law enforcement’s released images, the student said the man “looked familiar.”
The student added that spotting anyone on that section of the roof was unusual, telling CNN, “It was weird.” He recalled last seeing the man on the roof around noon last Wednesday, exactly one week before Kirk’s killing. The student told CNN he shared this information with the FBI tip line after the shooting but has not yet received a response from authorities.

He brought it up in the context of Bill Clinton's famous line "I feel your pain":
Charlie Kirk said:
The new communications strategy is not to do what Bill Clinton used to do, where he would say, "I feel your pain." Instead, it is to say, "You're actually not in pain." So let's just, little, very short clip. Bill Clinton in the 1990s. It was all about empathy and sympathy.
Modern conservatives see empathy as a weakness, not a virtue. His solution was to tell the person who's hurting, "you're not actually in pain."

It's really not up to the media to report on things like this. In fact in the past, CNN itself has been sued by people when they've reported stories that are not confirmed. It's up to the FBI to follow up on tips. They will decide if they want to involve the media.

A great example is this morning's press conference in the Charlie Kirk shooting. They caught the shooter Thursday night. But they held the information until they could hold a televised press conference in morning drive at 10AM ET. This was done as a media event.

That's fair. But hopefully this report will be looked into and confirmed or denied in the coming days.
