Clear Channel Blows Up The Harbor. Now Evolution 101.7

Harbor gone---- welcome to the new dance evolution 101.7

just breaking off the radio insight facebook and twitter pages!!!!

last song on the harbor - sweet caroline
first song to launch dance evolution - don't you worry child

what is going on???

me you and another person.

This is a significant move in the market. Now we got 4 stations playing the same upbeat stuff. I smell potential changes on 94.5 dial.

Same stuff? I'm pretty sure there are extremely few FM stations in the U.S. playing what 101.7 is right now as a 24/7 format. Dance Factory in Chicago comes to mind, but it's still only overnights. From my point of view, cheers to Clear Channel for giving something new a try. And it's a perfect niche for the urban Class A 101.7 signal.

Also have to wonder: adult hits for 96.9 now?

There is a hole in the market for EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and CC made a step in the right direction with this Evolution.

to protect kiss and jammin. it all becomes clear!! wonder how close greater media was to flipping 96.9 to something like this??

Sorry, but this HAS to be a stunt. In a major market, owned by a major company? It's happened before (WPYM in Miami, now WFEZ).

Even if this IS a stunt, I LOVE IT!!!!

And the Harbor was, what, only six months old?

A good half of JAM'N, KISS and AMP playlist consists of EDM.

it's a new iHeart format initiative. It's real, but I don't know why anyone would think this would be any more successful than what the Harbor was pulling.

this is a total surprise and a welcome change your turn 96.9!!!

This clears the way for 96.9 to adopt a Jack-like Variety Hits format. From all the 96.9 domain registrations, Variety Hits was probably a possibility.

I hope CC staffs the station, and it is not just a nightclub-style jukebox.

Well, as much as I still miss WFNX, it's great to know that Clear Channel is doing something different with this frequency. (And yes, contrary to what others my suggest, CHR does not fulfill the needs of a dance music listener.) Here's hoping that dance music can be successful in Boston, and that other such stations will spread around the country.
