There are FCC cap limits in place to regulate such things based on number of stations in each band in a market (based on market size) and percentage share of audience. So as to ownership, there's no monopoly at work, just a company that's spread itself across the country.
I guess there's no complaints about CBS Radio owning as many outlets in the major markets? Or maybe Entercom's 4 FM & 3 AM stations in Kansas City or Greater Media's 5 FM stations in Boston, for example? Or the soon to be Cumulus/Citadel company?
An argument may be made that the cap limits should be tightened a bit, but you can't blame the big dogs for taking a bigger piece of the pie when it was made available.
Now might CC be, uh, somewhat leveraged these days since they might be spread a bit too thin? Different story. How each company runs its business is a different matter - I'm sure there's many differing opinions amongst radio professionals as to which radio company handles things the best. Can be quite subjective.
i`m prety consistant.i think its bad when any company owns too many stations in a market.i think it should be one am station, one fm station and one tv station max.that would be best for diversity of sound and editorial content,
