Coming This Fall on Local TV?

That lineup makes sense. A easy move for FOX 8.

So a quick rundown of local TV coming next month:

WKYC - Little change except for "Live on Lakeside," which replaced "Good Company Today and their noon news.

WEWS - Big overhaul involving Katie Couric and new 7-8PM shows, plus new set coming for its newscasts on September 8.

WJW - Big overhaul phasing out some courtroom shows (except for the big ones) for new talk shows.

WOIO - Big overhaul involving the arrival and relocation of "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!"

WUAB - Some tweaks replacing cancelled shows and probably some time changing for others, plus a few new shows too.

WBNX - Big overhaul with new shows coming in and the arrival and relocation of "Divorce Court" and "Judge Alex."

Don't know about WVPX, WVIZ and WEAO, but that's local fall TV in a nutshell.

Well, as far as WVPX goes, ION has picked up the rights to "House" and "Num3ers" (which are both leaving weekend syndication...and yes, the 3 is supposed to be in the title), and "Law and Order: CI" (which doesn't affect it's local syndication deal), and on Wednesday nights, they'll have a new primetime WWE program called "The Main Event" (man...between the CW and ION, WWE is really trying to get a foothold back in broadcast TV).

On 43, "House" and "Num3ers", along with USA Network show "White Collar" will join the My Network TV primetime schedule. (ION will air "House"/"Num3ers" at various times, while My Net has primetime rights) 43 really doesn't need to change their basic schedule too much, with their strong syndicated slate of "30 Rock", "How I Met your Mother", "2 1/2 Men", "Family Guy", and "The Simpsons".

Just found out a few more tidbits:

With the "Wheel"/"Jeopardy" combo coming to 19 at 7 and 7:30 p.m., that will bump current time slot occupants "The Insider" and "Inside Edition" over to channel 43 weeknights at 6 and 6:30 respectively (with the weekend editions Saturday nights at 11 and 11:30 p.m.)

Also "Dish Nation", which is a TMZ style show with various morning radio DJs going over the various happening in pop culture, will air at 11 p.m. M-F on 43.

A mishmash of "30 Rock" and "How I Met Your Mother" will air from 11:30 p.m.- 1 a.m., with "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" @ 1 and 1:30 respectively.

And WUAB will carry ACC football Saturday afternoons at noon (via the Raycom owned ACC Network).

WOW! That's really breaking up the comedy block. That reduces the laughs to 7-8PM and 11:30pm or Midnight until well into dawn on 43. I remember when that station had TONS of comedy almost all day in the late 1990's. Boy are those days over.

I didn't think "Dish Nation," "Insider" and "Inside Edition" would get good time slots on 43. I thought they would be on overnights like "Extra" coming on at 2 or 3AM. That leaves 55 as the only station to air comedy between 5 and 8PM.

Part of me thinks that they're sacrificing those slots on 43 to really put over 19's new toys (the revamped news, "Wheel", and "Jeopardy").

Revamped news? Is 19 possibly getting rid of the "Action" format or is it just minor tweaks?

I do agree with on the station and 43. 19 seems to be the flagship of the two, but I think Wheel/Jeopardy! will be a real game changer for 'OIO. The news will get a boost for sure.

BTW, 5 is getting a brand new set that will be unveiled on September 8, which is during the period when Katie, The List and Let's Ask America arrives.

By revamped, I mean what they've already done, such as bringing in Romona Robinson, the post-Johncic anchor shuffle, and the (somewhat/kinda) toning down of their tabloid tedndecies.

Gotcha. There probably will be more tweaks coming at 19/43, especially its news.

They would have to with the game shows coming on board. I will say that Action News has become more watchable since Romona joined the station.

Fox 8 is in fact gonna move "Judge Joe Brown" up to the 11 a.m. slot starting September 10.

This will eliminate the overkill that is the daily quadruple showings of "Judge Judy".

Unless they do something in late nights, the WJW lineup I speculated on earlier in the thread is the one they're gonna roll with for the fall.

I agree with you on latenights and eliminating two of the "Judge Judy" airings. I like her show, but FOUR is too much. Putting "Judge Joe Brown" keeps courtroom programming on in the 11AM hour, which is a smart move as lead-in for the Noon news. Same with "Judy" at 4PM before the 5PM news. Wouldn't make sense if Probst, Lake or Harvey was on in before Bill and Tracy.

Thanks to the PD, more tidbits have been revealed:

WEWS is shortening the noon news with Leon Bibb from a full hour to 1/2 an hour to make room for the news magazine/viral video show "Right This Minute" (which had been airing late nights) at 12:30.

WOIO is bringing back "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" at 3 p.m. with a 2nd run of "Jeopardy" at 3:30. With CBS already having "Let's Make a Deal" and "The Price is Right" in the mornings, and WOIO's new shiny toys at 7 p.m., it looks like 19 is loading up on game shows all through the day.

To balance that out, sister station WUAB is dumping "Family Feud" to have pretty much an all day talk show block from 10a-7p (excluding "Judge Mathis" at 11) as they're bringing over Anderson Cooper's show at 10, British import Trisha Goddard's new show at 1 p.m. (it's actually a spinoff of "Maury" believe it or not, as Trisha has sorta been Maury's version of Dr. Phil for the last couple of years), along with bringing over "The Insider" and "Inside Edition" during the 6 p.m. hour. And as I mentioned before, most of the sitcoms are now gonna be on post 11:30 p.m.

Pretty surprising 19 is bringing back "Millionaire." I thought that show would not come back in Cleveland. Nice to see it return, and it serves as a better companion with "Jeopardy!" in the 3PM hour.

I guess 19/43 had to choose between "Millionaire" and "Feud," and the former won out. Maybe in mid-season, if 43 is able to bring back "Feud," they can pair in late morning with a 2nd run of "Wheel." Just a thought.

I don't know for sure, but there may be some kind of deal where "Family Feud" and Steve Harvey's new talk show can't oppose one another.

"Feud" I'm sure will be a good bullpen option if one of the new talk shows tank early on. WUAB wanted to build a talk block and "Feud" didn't fit the motif.

Over the next couple of weeks, the new shows that are beginning and whatever shows that are switching stations will be doing so piece meal style.

Thanks for posting the full lineups. Nice to see what the big six is planning, and what changes are made.

WUAB has the most changes going on with comedy pushing to one hour from 7-8PM and after Midnight. I guess The Block is trying something different. I'm also surprised to see Extra airing at 11:30PM after years in the overnight hours. Of course, WKYC has the least amount of changes on tap.

It doesn't appear that "Baggage," "Justice for All with Judge Cristina Perez," and the shows that weren't picked up last year ("American Dad" and "Futurama") will have a home in Cleveland. My guess is there's no room or the stations were not interested. One good part, no "We the People with Gloria Allred" and "America's Court with Judge Ross." The less court shows the better.

And so it begins...

Watching "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!" on the DVR system. I will say it's a bit weird seeing those shows on WOIO, but I think they will do fine on CBS 19.

As for WEWS, I've not seen "The List" and "Let's Ask America," (I might check them out later this week and update on this thread) though I don't think many viewers are going to sample the new shows due to loyalty of the game shows. I've seen on Facebook and Channel 5's website a lot of people upset over the change and saying they're moving to 19.

This is one move to watch in the coming weeks.

I'll bet they'll finish dead last among the big four at 7p.m.

Wheel/Jeopardy will continue to rule the roost, WKYC's news/"Entertainment Tonight" combo has been a solid #2 for almost a decade, and WJW's news/"Big Bang Theory" combo did well last year.

Quite honestly, the bigger question will be if channel 5's new offerings can beat "2 1/2 Men" on 43 or "The Office" on 55.

I was looking forward to watching Barney Miller on Antenna TV (channel 8.2) on Sunday evenings starting in September. Unfortunately, the morons are pre-empting both episodes in the 8-9 pm timeslot with Big Chuck and Little John skits. Does anyone know the reason for this? As far as I know, no other station in the area is showing Barney Miller. I contacted Fox 8 via email, but they have not responded.

Affiliates of both Antenna TV and Me-TV have flexibility to locally program when they wish to do so.

In some markets, they offer local news repeats on the subchannel or something like that, much like WEWS does now weekdays at 1 PM on the 5.2 LiveWell subchannel.

In general, we're pretty lucky that the stations don't pre-empt the subchannel's network more than they do.

The thing is, Barney Miller is only aired one night a week (Sunday), so it really doesn't make sense. They could pre-empty something that is aired more frequently. Maybe someone at 8 doesn't like Barney Miller. Whatever the reason, I will get to the bottom of it.
