Coming This Fall on Local TV?

Now Fox 8's really gonna have to fill those weekday holes. Jeff Probst's show got cancelled. With him and Lake gone, that's two hours to fill, and I doubt WBNX is going to give up "Divorce Court" and "Judge Alex." Those two boosted 55 big time.

If I was running 8, I would put Brown back immediately at 3, with sitcom reruns at 1 and 1:30pm. Have Probst and Lake on late nights until they're gone for good.

In the Fall there will be a new hour-long daytime version of TMZ ("TMZ Live") that will compliment the nighttime show, so I'd bet Fox 8 will use that to fill a gap. Plus with Aresenio Hall already confirmed for late nights on 8 in Sept 2013, pehaps some of the sitcoms will venture up to daytime. WJW may even bring back the daytime version of "Access Hollywood" to fill the hole...who knows?

Point is, they have options.

With Steve Harvey being from Cleveland I can see him getting an upgrade since his show is successful and has strong ratings. I have read that ch may air a show called paternity court from MGM as local TV has cleared it for their group. They could even clear family feud and have both Steve Harvey shows.

And the holes on Fox 8 are getting bigger!

"Judge Joe Brown" is ending after this season. This would be the show's 15th. I remember when it premiered on 19 before moving over 8.

So now with Ricki Lake, Jeff Probst and Judge Brown not coming back, that leaves three hours open for 8 for fall '13. Perhaps they can pick Family Feud and pair it with Steve Harvey's talk show. Just an idea.

Here's some of the new hour long talkers due to premerie in Fall 2013:

Queen Latifa - who like Ricki Lake this year is giving the daytime talk circuit a 2nd try.
TMZ Live - a daytime companion to the latenight tabloid show
Bethany - hosted by former "Real Houswife" of (insert city here) Bethany Frankel
The Test - a show dealing with using polygraph and DNA tests to settle conflicts (in other words, more "you...ARE the father!")
Arsenio Hall - giving late nights another whirl.

I would think WJW is a lock for TMZ Live, and they'll probably get another talker in the daytime (they're already confimed for Arsenio 2.0 in late night)

Just found out that WJW is entering the 4 p.m. news game beginning in the fall, invading what has long been WOIO's turf.

Confirmed are anchor Mark Zinni and the return of meteorologist Melissa Mack.

While not set in stone, you gotta assume this bumps "Judge Judy" up to 3 p.m.

I did see the news on Melissa Mack, who I'm surprised and excited to see return to both Cleveland and WJW, but I've not heard anything on Mark Zinni (who's now gotten press nationwide over the Matt Lauer comments) regarding the 4pm newscast.

WOIO should now start to worry with another competitor at the same time slot as its earlier newscast. Who knows what they would think when WJW ends bring back news at 11pm.

I thought maybe Jennifer Jordan and Gabe Spiegel would get the 4pm slot, but perhaps they're groomed to take over the 6pm slot.

It will also be strange to see six on-air personalities all doing weather - Dick Goddard, Andre Bernier, Scott Sabol, Angelica Campos, AJ Colby and Melissa Mack! Unless one of those remaining five are leaving...

Don't go there...

There's no guarentee that Mack coming back for the purpose of doing weather...she may be pulling a Mark Nolan and graduating to the news desk.

In a perfect world, it would be Jordan/Spiegel at noon & 5, with Martin/McCool at 4, 6, & 10, and Maglio doing the 7 p.m. newscast solo as well as being a super-sub utility man/fill-in.

That would be strange to see Melissa as an anchor. If 8 believes in her in that role, then I wish her the best.

I do wonder how WOIO will respond, especially how they have two anchor teams in that hour - Denise Dufala and David Wittman at 4 and George Smith and Danielle Serino at 4:30.

I hate to say it. Is it possible Dick Goddard will retire this fall? Just an observation regarding Melissa Macks' return. Dick is our fountain of youth. He can't retire. For all the daytime trash shows. Dump them. Have the 8.2 channel run on channel 8. Lets have all the old shows on all day. Show humanity what decent tv was all about. Paternity tests on tv..Hmm all welfare mom tv.

It would be nice to see Dick Goddard appear on FOX 8 longer, but there will come a time when he will leave the station for good. It will be the "end of the world" when Dick is gone.

And like vjm said, Melissa Mack might end up as a news co-anchor. If Mark Zinni, does join her, who would have to take his place on the weekend morning newscasts?

Or, my thinking is that Elisa Amigo could join Mark and Melissa on the 4pm show. We have to see what happens this fall.

In my opinion WJW should put Family Feud on at 11am since Judge Joe was canceled, Queen Latifah on at 1 and leave Steve at 2 and put Judge Judy on at 3 with the news at 4. Paternity court would be better on WUAB 43 along with The Test. It seems that today all of the surviving shows are all of the fake drama like jerry and muary, but there are a few good shows.

I doubt we'll see the Feud on Fox 8...game shows aren't usually in WJW's M.O.

A better bet would be the new "TMZ Live" daytime show at 11 a.m. to complement the nighttime show at midnight.

Queen Latifa will probably the 1 p.m. slot leading in to Steve Harvey, and I'd be SHOCKED if Judge Judy didn't get the 3 p.m. slot to make room for the 4 p.m. news.

Interesting...

Perhaps now for fall, Judge Judy goes to 11 a.m., and we have a Queen Latifa/Steve Harvey/Wendy Williams troika leading into the 4 p.m. news.

or

We could have Wendy/Arsenio from 11p-1a following the 10 p.m. news.

Lots of options for Fox 8.

What are the news shows coming to 8 this fall outside of Arsenio and Queen Latifa?

There's also the possibility of Queen Latifah going to either 43 or 55, leaving Steve and Wendy on 8.

With Wendy Williams moving to 8 this fall, that leaves a hole on 55 to fill. Maybe Queen Latifah can takeover? Or maybe game shows, court shows and sitcom reruns could fill the soon-to-change 4pm slot on the station.

Other possibility: Judge Judy changes stations. She could move to 19/43 (perhaps take the 3pm slot on 19 before their 4pm to help offset the competition on 8 or serving as a companion with Judge Mathis on 43) or 55 (joining up with Divorce Court and Judge Alex). That could be unlikely as JJ is a huge performer on 8. Then again, the station did drop DC and JA in favor of the new talk shows, two of which crashed and burned.

Steve Harvey might change stations too. 19/43 and 55 are likely to pick them up if 8 drops it, despite its success. Anything can happen with syndication.
