dan rea. nightside.

Brian Maloney talks about Dan Kennedy's piece for Commonwealth Magazine about Rea: "(Dan) singles out Rea's show for its 'civility', a code word the left frequently uses to mean 'non-conservative'...'Civility' is also a great way to describe boring radio, programming meant to help elderly people in nursing homes get to sleep in the late hours."

I disagree when he says that the "rumpswab" caller would "probably be dumped" from shows like Carr, etc.
It would get through, including that word, but if stronger language were to be used those words would
be bleeped out.
Haven't heard too much of Rea's show to judge--prefer Ingraham...(your healthy...radio...addiction!)

on at least two occasions last night, dan rea reported that the bruins held mario lemieux to zero goals.

uh. that probably wasnt too hard, considering he is retired.

i like dan rea's program. i listen almost nightly. i enjoy it. so, i dont mean to bash rea. but he tends to get facts wrong frequently. usually little stuff...but still...

when he goes off into one of his hillary rants, he often lets facts fall by the wayside. i cringe everytime one of those rants. someone should tell him when he gets riled up about hillary he is quickly speeding down that highway to howie-land...and i dont think he wants to go there. he might enjoy howie's checks, but i doubt he wants to have that type of program.

maybe that was a bit of humor on his part although once would have been enough and a large % of his audience probably wouldn't have gotten it anyway.

may have been an attempt at humor.

my theory is he meant to say sidney crosby, but got mixed up.

dan let a 'killary' slip last night.

i sure hope it was an honest slip of the tongue.

id lose a lot of respect for him if he is one of those righties that refers to hillar as 'killary'...or even worse 'hitlerly'

And did anyone mention that JJ Wright has a similar name to a character in my novel, "Taken Identity?" There's an Admiral Jack Joseph Wright who helps out some of our military heroes. And I would imagine that the Admiral sounds a lot like the WBZ Imaging guy. ;)

okay - shameless plug-mode off.

Chuck...

How are the book sales coming? Any takers on the movie rights, yet? I'm sure you're planning to write the screenplay if you can find a financial backer? :-*

... or "Barack Hussein Obama," while not using McCain's middle name, as well.

Just wondering, but why does someone need financial backing to write a screenplay? You need an idea, a keyboard, and an agent.

Theatrical feature writing is about as entrepenurial as Hollywood gets.

Sidney? I guess that would have made all the difference.

Personally, I would have thought that Obama's top foreign policy advisor referring to HRC as a 'monster' was a little more eyebrow raising than some marginal fly-over country talk host taking an instantly reputiated shot a Obama's middle name, but that's just me.

This forum's reputation for substantive political discussion seems secure. Next we'll probably discover than some air-talent work under names other than the ones they were born with.

not only that, she said "this is off the record". oops.

However, listening to Feinburg's weekend show, a caller expressed her concern that Obama was Muslim. Feinburg responded by saying that Obama wasn't a Muslim, he was a Christian. She persisted, saying that we don't know whether Obama declared his faith for Islam as a child, to which Feinburg, to his credit, said "I don't know what you are talking about" and cut her off. And yes, I believe that the caller is from fly-over country. So, the Hussein stuff does resonate with some, however, they are people unlikely to vote for a Democrat under any circumstances.

Personally, I think Obama should start calling himself Barack Hussein Obama all the time. Whatever. People will get over it or they won't. Do people like the names their parents give them?

Lucky for him his name isn't Barack Jesus Obama.

Unfortunately for her, she went off the record half way though the remark, which is really amateur hour for someone who's not exactly a newbie at this stuff. Interestingly, she stayed on the record to insult the Brit PM.

Although she's fallen on her sword, you really have to question Obama's judgment in keeping Powers in a major advisory position for so long.

Good point. She's obviously looking for a reason not to vote for Obama and I guess she's free to make up any reason she wants. What a country!

I once worked for a guy in the late-60s who had named his son, then a teenager, Irving? Although it was a traditional family name, I wondered why anyone would hang a moniker like that on his kid.

Lucky for him his name isn't Barack Jesus Obama.

Can a Puerto Rican run for president? ;D

How about Buffy? Could you vote for someone named Buffy??

Depends what they were running for. I don't think that would be a handicap if you were running for cover model of the old Barstool Sports mag.

the thing is it's not just one host are using the "Hussein" thing with Obama... Michael Wiener, uh, Savage (another fake name) and Bill Cunningham from Cincinnati who "warmed up" a McCain event there and his "routine" or whatever apparently didn't sit well with McCain. The intent is obvious--to make people think that he's a Muslim and/or lump him with Saddam.

yes, it's from the Times.

And my question remains, so what? You can't stop people from infering whatever they want and, quite frankly, nobody who takes their political marching orders from Savage or Cunningham was going to vote for Obama if he was the last candidate on the face of the earth, whether he was a Muslim or not. And, if you think the fact that Savage uses a 'stage' name is germane to anything, well, there just isn't much anyone can say, other than welcome to the world Trivial Pursuit, Media Edition.

And, not to put too fine a point on it, by the time HRC, and later, McCain, get though with him, he's going to regard these days as 'the happy time.' Plus, with just about every national journalist in the tank for him, Obama can probably take care of himself. And he better be able to, because electoral politics at this level is as hardball as it gets.

let me guess...rea will spend the evening tooting obama's horn on his 'big victory' last night.

oooo. maybe he has a letter from some racist clinton supporter to read on the air! you know, all of us clinton supporters are racists...at least rea wanted to imply that the other night.

it is funny to see these republicans like rea jumping on the obama bandwagon. you know they dont like him. you know why they are riding the bandwagon? because he is close to beating a clinton...something rea's party never could do!
