I had to register tonight to comment on this. Dan Michaels just told me about 'Out 97' tonight as I was leaving the WLTB studio... I decided to drive to West Corners to check it out. Imagine my surprise when I was able to hear it in the parking lot!
A peculiar playlist included Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, then Percy Faith and Elvis.
Excellent sound quality, and modulation on par with the commercial stations (like I can get with my Aphex/Texar/8100A combo... he-he!) but without all that heavy squash that the rest of us love so much. In fact, the guy on the air was on a rant about on-air sound quality of Clear Channel and Citadel when I tuned him in.
I think Dan C. could be right, but I would more likely bet he's running an Optimod 8000 or 8100A, since these are all over ebay at more affordable prices. I don't see many used 2200s anywhere... If they hit the 'bay, they bid up pretty good.
...and Dan... I checked out "Now 97" a couple of weeks ago and left it on in my office... it sounds great! You also inspired me to get some professional sweepers made for my own "95-five, the Jam"...
Don't worry, I only have a Ramsey kit for now, so I won't be competition for any of you guys, but I am teaching my 12-year old how to segue music and talk on the air.
Happy Broadcasting!
