He's taken the American Idol notoriety to find success on radio and in other TV ventures on ABC (duh), NBC ("Momma's Boys"), and E!.jinglemaker said:Yeah gotta give Seacrest credit. He is this generations Dick Clark.
He is smooth at everything he does.
I've decided that Kellie Pickler isn't really dumb so much as she is 'easily fooled'. I don't know if she's single, but she seems to be the type that'd believe you really are a former astronaut now working as a sports agent--for at least an hour or two, anyway. Hey, you could probably snag her phone number.jinglemaker said:Kelly Pickler didn't act as stupid as she has on idol. Also, she looks like she's had her entire face done.
Mark said:I have heard talk that ABC shouldn't really call it Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years but if Clark owns the show, he's pretty much in the driver's seat.
Ken said:It does say at the end Dick Clark productions whatever the name it is called. So maybe he wants it like that or something. Also if ABC produced it I would think they wouldn't show promo graphics over graphics for the New Years Eve show which I saw happen with Ryan Seacreast name graphic and the time box aka ABC Time. Wonder why it can't be Clark Time.
Mark said:Dick Clark in his day was a nice looking guy, who was likeable and didn't seem to really do anything

This thread's fogeys don't want to admit such a thing, but he really is the new millennium Dick Clark.

Dick Clark produced "American Bandstand" and acted on "Perry Mason". Dick was in one of 2 shows where Mason actually lost the trial! http://www.clevver.com/tv/videof/213815/perry-mason-video-clip-dick-clark.html
Does anyone else see the difference in quality here?? To me its comparing White Castles with Prime Rib We watch clips of American Bandstand to see great performers at their best. Will we ever watch reruns of "American Idol"?
Garrett said:He has a very active production company that owns 3 or 4 other shows in addition to New Years. Even if He decided to be completely off of New Years, I would expect him to be involved in the production process for a while.
BRNout said:Pickler was a quick turn off. Basically, as soon as we heard that high, grating, trailer-trash voice clearly read-ing (at a third grade level) from the teleprompter, we switched the channel. They need to lose her next year.
The only thing on TV more annoying than the Pickler is Kathy Griffin, who amazes me in her ability to still get gigs despite being so damn unentertaining and generally unlikable.
Garrett said:I rather think that Carson over at NBC reminds me more of the younger Dick Clark. He looks like he enjoys it and if you think about it, also hosted a show very similar to the old Band Stand, TRL! So whose to say just because Ryan Seacrest is hosting Dick Clark's show that he's the "heir apparent" for New Year's?" In 15 more years, we could be talking about how that Carson guy is on NBC every year...
