did KIM flip again?

Also, by blowing up 100 and acknowledging that Q107.5 owns the younger demo, do you not drive the middle of the female 25-54 demo to Kim, HELPING Citadel in the process?. 100 needs to move to the 25-44 female demo, IMO.

See what happens when we play "Domino Theory"? Lots of intriguing "if/then" scenarios.

If FM 100 continues the slide, then Entercom has a decision. Stay with the format and try to regain what they've lost to Q 107, or flip it? If they flip it, countering Citadel's KIX is logical and Entercom has already proven what it thinks of FM 100's heritage..therefore, Wolf 99.7

Question is, which would ultimately be more profitable? And / or less expensive?

Entercom appears to not have any semblance of 'heritage' with the personnel actions taken with WMC-FM.

The 'profitable' move is to shift Classic Country to WMC-FM (even simulcast AM in the transition) and tune the transmitter to be the 300kw beacon it could be. It would be a great signal and would free up the AM side for news - talk - sports - whatever.

If that happened, though, in order to make it successful on a big stick, wouldn't they have to go out and hire real talent and NOT rely on the satellite?

I know, questions, more question..

Hold the phone! You really think FM100 is about to flip to country?

How about putting a competitive news-talk format on the FM? ;)

You genuinely believe you could do news/talk cheaper than 100 is operating now? And probably bill much less? And be profitable? COME ON PEOPLE! As far as "Solid Gold Sunday", remember, it was scrapped because it make the ratings SKEW TOO OLD... and that was 6 years ago!

We don't have access to revenues (or does someone here?), but we do have access to ratings. And 25-54 FM100 is still doing fine. imho the format change rumors on this board about FM100, are just that....rumors.

FM100 is number 1 with persons 25-54 non ethnic and WRVR is number 2. why flip that? ain't gonna happen.

That was the info (along with billing) that I was looking for. So, no it doesn't make sense (for now).

No one was starting rumors. As far as I know it has never even been a rumor. It was a hypothetical exercise, and I still maintain it's the thing to do unless Entercom can keep the 25-54 numbers and the billing up.

Rob,

News/Talk can be done cheap cheap cheap and still make money. You don't have to have money to get syndicated programs on your station. You just have to run their spots. Then you sell a block of :30-minute info-mercials in the Saturday and Sunday time slots.

I doubt they will blow up 100. They already have enough negative vibes in the city from dumping Steve and Tom. They don't need to make themselves a complete joke in the eyes of listeners.

KIM needs a morning show and someone to coach Deb on sounding more natural and less "radio".

The phrase was "competitive" news talk. So, to me, that means a "news department" and on air talent plus board ops/producers, not merely a cardboard cutout version. I still don't think you could do it more cost effectively than what they are currently doing, and am pretty sure the spot rates wouldn't be what they are now.

WMC-AM is a good example of what you describe. Cheap satellite feed with local shows and infomercials on the weekend.

Even with the ratings stated as such, the credibility at 1960 Union has diminished with the personnel moves that a flip could do no more damage.

However, the "critiques" (no, they're slams) of both Deb and Wendi are unwarranted. I know you said you wanted to keep your anonimity, but don't expect to launch attacks from behind a veil and not get challenged.

The Deb comment really wan't meant as a slam. She has a great voice but she tends to come off as an announcer sometimes.

I truly am just a radio listener. I don't know who this "Deb Dockrey" really is. I am sure she is a very nice person. BUT, what everyone is saying is true!! She sounds so FAKE! I happened on to FM100 one day when I was driving a family members car that didn't have my sirius. When I didn't hear TOM on 100, it didn't take long after remembering the recent carnage to realize what probably happened. So, I came here to find out. (An old radio friend told me about this board a long time ago. So, when someone disappears I come here to find out the who, what, and why) Anyway, after finding Mr. TP on KIM I decided I'd give it a try the next time I was in the car. I heard her several times. I had to change the station because I was so embarrassed for her I couldn't stand it. She has a great voice. It sounds really familiar to me too. (still pondering that) But, she sounds so corny and "announced" that I just can't stand it. Maybe someone should give her a couple of beers before she opens the mic everyday. Just kidding..lol. I don't know but she has such a nice voice that it's a shame she sounds or comes across that way. That is HONEST! It is not meant as a slam! Like I said before, I'm sure she is a nice person.
For the record, I kinda liked KIM's format a month ago as compared to now. Too many older songs and not enough new stuff if you ask me.

Don't be so sure? Are you implying something?

Listen. I know Deb quite well. If everybody on this board had half the courtesy and dignity of that woman, this would be a much more useful and pleasant place to visit.

Please, speak of others as you would have them speak of you.
