Does anyone know why wlrs is lettiing jocks go right and left?

Mudd already did mornings at wlrs a few years ago. Just stick a fork in wlrs and let it go i am not saying do away with rock on that frequency just get a new rock station with new calls and some direction they are clueless to alt on that station.By the way annrae and galvin and mo were the only reasons to listen if main line sees the writing on the wall and reads it well they will retool 105.1!!!

Anyone know what going on?

Two words. Radio One. Look at the performance of the former Blue Chip stations before the merger and after the merger. You'll see your answer.

I think Radio One was using some ill-advised consultants for the Louisville cluster. They just don't know what they're doing. And they're arrogant about it too!

LRS could use a REAL MORNING SHOW, not just a more music morning show with one deejay.

LRSFEST is the best show in Louisville.

No offense to skinny j but he is not good for mornings at all not a bad jock but not for mornings.Monnings need to have a ebb and flow to them.He just does not have it.sorry skinny j.Now wlrs since there reincarnation at 105.1 has had some good morning shows mcgregor was awesome and mudd was decent and galvin and mo but right now no reason to listen. The station has no anchor to pull people in i mean djx has pete and kelly the max has lambert and lindsey qmf bob and tom the fox had tony and dwight and now charlie and dwight all decent morning shows. No reason to listen to lrs.

Fix it or flip it no ifs ands or butts mainline please give louisville alternative radio station back!!!

That Skinny J guy is excellent! As are all the personalities on WLRS. I just think a morning show should consist of a team, not just one person.

Dude seriously you are kidding right?Joe the freak show he has got to be the worst jock i have ever heard a horrific voice for radio get serious.Lrs needs to be blown up and start over with a brand new rock station.Radio one really ruined that station!!!Get serious lrs has the worst jocks in the city for a radio station.I said it before and i will say it again they do not give you a reason to listen.Nothing to pull you in!!!

I am not in the area. I so wish I was but I'm picking Disney World as my next vacation, then I will go on my horse ranching vacation in KY. So obviously I cannot comment on what I haven't heard lately with WLRS. Everyone tell damn WLRS to stream so I can give an opinion as I am the radio master and have listened to thousands of different radio stations across the country and around the world on all different formats too, including ones online streaming, regularly on a radio, and even through the phone request line – some with friends and other people with their phones and mics through Yahoo Messenger. I also would like to be asked if there are any sudden format changes to this station as I like the look of it very much and want to listen to it someday. Please forward these comments to all the staff of WLRS FM and ask them to send me an aircheck too as I want to know who their voiceover announcer/liners is. Thank you. No further discussion your honor (lol) until I, the Radio Master Wizard has listened or approved.

Skinny J is terrible. Sorry but it's true. He sounds so amaturish. Why would anyone in their right mind put him in mornings? He should stop trying to be funny or topical and just shut up and play music. Joe sounds like he has a hamburger in his mouth when he talks. Just awful. Between the two the station has no talent. Hot is right. Worse than a bad college station. All music would be a far more entertaining option.

As Mainline only purchased the 105.1 signal, WLRS is going to lose it's simulcast in a matter of weeks. The numbers at the station are really crappy as it is and without the 104.3 signal its got to be game over.Â

Anybody have any idea what is going to happen to the 104.3 signal that's licensed to Indiana?               Â

I haven't heard anything, but it would seem like a natural simulcast partner for any station with a tower in Bullitt County or points south, such as WAKY, WTHX, or WJIE (licensed to Okolona, but the tower is in Bullitt County). Even EMF could make a huge improvement to Air1's coverage area by ditching 88.3 and moving to 104.3.

Lrs fest is still going in sept. I take it mainline takes over after that. I sure hope they make major changes at 105.1.Flip em or fix em!!!

Well then why did clear channel a few months ago flip a spanish station in philli to alternative and in sandiego cbs just flipped there free fm to a hot ac/aaa and clear channel flipped a station back to alt in new mexico. And in nyc cbs flipped free fm 92.3 back to a active/alt format. So it can't be that dead.Maybe on life support in some markets but also it depends on the product being put out and wlrs puts out a very bad product whereas the fox overall for active rock not a bad station.

Well, I don't reckon we're alltogether classic. Really, what's a dying breed are straight rock stations like ours... Alts and Actives just keep trying to drink from the same well. Don't get me started on completely classic rock formats...Maybe more rock stations oughta quit tryin to go for such narrow demos....here's my show from a day back in Feb....

Kinda sad the way CC and the like have shoved rock into these narrow, and often indescernable boxes! QMF and SFR both bore my pants off, TFX is pretty darn good, but they now have no signal, and LRS is your typical identity crisis of an Alt. Its also sad because even though I could have been working in my hometown on the radio, and wanted to be when I was 15 and decided on this career, I now have NO desire to.
In a market like mine, being #4 behind two countries and an AC is pretty nice. Smokes are cheaper here too!!! ;-)

But nationwide, almost everywhere, stations more like WSFR and WQMF (classic rock stations, no currents/recurrents) almost always outperform current rock, active rock and alternative stations. There are a few exceptions, of course, but we've been in an age of specialization for years. Rock's (mainstream-current)
biggest problem is new music availability- GOOD, new music and a decent amount of it and your list proves there isn't much new stuff that's actually worthy of mixing with solid classic rock. Don't blame the big radio companies- blame the RECORD companies, who always put radio at their mercy.

I am really hoping and praying main line shakes up louisville radio when they take over from radio one.I am a huge fan of the alt format but if i want a good alt station i have to stream it.We got wfpk but they are just kinda boring at times but all in all i enjoy them.that is all we got here for an alternative is wfpk.I just want main line should blowup wlrs once and for all and start with a brand new rock station.Wlrs was alt when they went back on the air in march of 2000 but radio one ruined that and now it is trash with horrific talent!!!Whats an alt fan to do ???

Yeah, but again we're a mainstream rock station. The number of "new" songs in our playlist isn't lower than it would be if not for better stuff to play. This is the ratio our product would have regardless of what's available. "Classic rock and the best new rock" is what we claim, and its what we deliver! The other rock station down here claims to be "classic rock" and they are solidly below us every book. They even throw in some currents to chase us. Sure "big box" classic rock stations do better...there are more 30 and 40 and 50 somethings that listen to rock radio than there are teens and 20 somethings...They are a generation who have never NOT known portable, easily programmable sources they can tailor to their own tastes. When I was growing up (I just turned 35 Monday) cassettes were cumbersome, CDs were a luzury and not writable, and no one had heard of MP3s. Radio isn't primary to the generation after mine. But when I was growing up on Uncle Ron and Duke etc, QMF looked more like what we do now. They didn't go exclusively classic untill CC came along and shoved them into a cookie-cutter! QMF is a shadow of its former self, and it makes me sad.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Y-A-W-N. Please name a radio station that's exactly like it was 25 years ago and has been on top the whole time.

the biggest challenge facing us in the active rock realm and even classic rock is the fact that A LOT of males do not have land line phones. Besides myself and a buddy who is married like me not one male I know has a land line. With free long distance in the cell who needs it? I can tell you if I weren't married I wouldn't have one either. The wife wants it and we have it. A good reason you are seeing a surge in these "rock" formats with the PPM is the fact that A. Arb is using cell phone data to recrute B. the listener needs no longer keep a damn diary. I mean really how many men do you know who want to put the effort into keeping a journal or can pay enough attention to how long they're really listening for a couple of bucks. With the PPM you slap it on and go. That's why you're seeing such an increase especially in TSL and that male cume surge.
Here in Tampa we've been in the 2's a long time and people keep screaming we're dead. We're still in the top 5 billers in the market and clients know by the reaction they get we're more than solid and have been forever.
Clear channel has been launching new rock and classic rock stations over the past few months as well. New Orleans, Birmingham, Mobile, Atlanta to name a few and I'm sure there will be more.

And to oldies cat the one station that has been on top for 25+ years and still kicking it is WDVE Pittsburgh.

Just my two cents
