End Near For Evolution On 101.7?

Agreed Go top 40 dance but use the Billboard Club play chart
A contemporary counterpart to the original Kiss and WBOS in late78-79

BOOM!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D Now THAT'S what we're talking about!!! :)

I like what Amp does with DJ Joe Bermudez on Fridays for the "Weekend Warm-up".
It would be nice if WEDX countered with DJ Armando's "Addiction" daily.

Joe's a good guy and a great DJ. So is Armando for that matter and Dom Armano (Kiss 108). Would be very interesting competition indeed!

Based solely on the fact that CC is flipping AM 1200 from a niche format, relegating it to an HD2 channel, could the same fate be far behind for the electronic music format on 101.7?

Think about it: both comedy and this "Evolution" format are niche formats destined for HD subchannel clearance. I'm sure this will be the fate for "Evolution," with the main channel on 101.7 evolving into something else - but what?

Evolution 101.7 STILL on the air.....another great prediction!

I actually think the major issue for the station is the sound quality put out over 101.7. Dance music, with its crisp highs and thumping bass, doesn't transfer well to my car stereo given the limited power of this frequency.

I think if the station's sound quality were better, it would be a more compelling listen for dance fans.

Is it the frequency or the processing? The station sounds fine on the iheart app.

Whatever the term is for how it sounds over FM. I'm sure it sounds great over an AAC stream. BTW, anyone have a link to a hifi stream of the station? :)

We had a similar issue with Pulse 87 down in NYC. Bad enough it was on the lowest part of the dial (87.7) with limited coverage so in that sense I can understand where you're coming from. But thinking as a core fan, despite it's limitations we've tuned in :). We've gave it core support :). I still think IMHO you have to make the sound more dance/CHR in the sense that you have to get those sometime fans to get sucked in along with the core :)

Does anybody remember how many ads were on the Harbor after a few months?

It seems like Evolution Music is now brought to us by Boston Sports Clubs and so forth. Still commercials every 1-2 hours for 2-3 mins at a time, but its something.

That's good! Boston Sports Clubs are a big deal local client. :) I think the best Pulse 87 ever did in NYC was about a week of SoBe ads early on.

I think the rumors of Evolution's demise are definitely exaggerated. CC seems to really believe in the format and are now rolling it out to translators/HD2 signals in other markets. Will it last? Who knows, but I do expect them to stick it out for awhile and make a real effort to create a viable niche format for their smaller, inner city signals & translators.

This is a really tiny signal in Miami....

and you thought WEDX was bad!

Um... yes. It's a translator. Most usually are. But it's right in downtown Miami off Biscayne Blvd with perfect line of sight to South Beach (roughly 3-4 miles away as the crow flies) some of which is over the water.

so technically what station is this a translator of officially? Boston? iHeart Radio? Are translators licensed in a way that require them to relay a signal in the same or an adjacent market (like 94.9 Worcester) ?
