End of P&K????

I enjoyed their show. I got the impression they were told what they could talk about on the air and what they couldn't. I remember hearing Kelly mention a while back they weren't supposed to talk about politics, etc, when she wanted to talk about Scott McClellan's book. I got the impression that Gavin Spittle micromanaged that show into the ground. I used to enjoy Russ but his show has turned into nothing but explosions, bodily function noises and song parodies. And his Friday shows are nothing but "Best Of" for the week with his "Week in Review." I don't enjoy Jagger. BDH is okay in small doses. Leykis' show is the same recycled stuff everyday for the past 10 years. The station is going down the toilet...and fast.
The only person with ratings is Russ and I think he is the only thing carrying that station right now.

O'Malley was okay with Tasos. If they were still together I could see them in a late night slot other than just weekends. I don't think that O'Malley can carry a show on his own, though. The thing about BDH, is that he's intelligent, provocative, and has no problem lining up decent guests. This week, I have to admit, I was more than disappointed in the Turley/Eric chain bit. I thought it was beneath the show.

Well I know there are not a lot of fans of theirs here, but I enjoyed their show.

I used to like them, but like everything else it was going stale. The "Human Growth's" all seemed repetitive, it was getting old to hear Kelly talk about her sexcapades day after day, etc. I hate to say it, but the show seemed better when they were less happy in their personal lives. The show had more of a "watching a train wreck" factor to it. Lately it's just been mundane.

I agree, it was the only show Gavin had any control over. And what does that say about him? I could see him dictating what could and could not be talked about. My only problem was they would tease something and never get to it and the freakin commercial breaks. They would go on forever. Call me crazy, but I bet Pugs ends up at The Ticket in some form or fashion, I think they like him over there.

I agree with Lilly...Gavin did end up micro-managing their show. It seemed like everything went way down hill when Sybil left and Gavin attempted to pull the reins in and "segment" their show in such a tight way. He didn't like when they ad-libbed or went off on their tangents but I really think that was what helped make their show unique. When the structured restraints were put on them, the personality of the show got sucked out. It's sad that personalities get put into programmer "boxes" and are expected to play the puppet game. And no, my name is not Pugs or Kelly. I'm just an avid talk radio listener that sees through the BS....

Yeah, when Sybil began transitioning out of the show, it seemed like the show began sliding down the slippery slope. I'm not saying that she was the tie that binds, I actually think it's more like she was intuitive enough to see the writing on the wall.

What is Gavin going to do? Bring his pet project Ernie and Jay over from KRLD? They're real ratings winners. I don't understand how Gavin is keeping his job. The only person on the station who has ratings was there long before he was. P & K had no control over all of the commercials. As far as the content....it's awfully funny it's okay for other shows to bring up politics or whatever they want to talk about but it wasn't for them. Which doesn't make sense. As far as Dan O'Malley possibly getting the midday slot, he's fine on Russ' show but not by himself. He tries too hard to imitate Russ.

Case in point. As soon as micromanaging kicks in, it only goes downhill.

Either way they are gone from that station in my opinion. They pulled them off the web page today so that's it. I remember Pugs saying that last Monday he was on the air that there was some stressfull stuff going on behind the scenes not for air. Now whether that was Eric getting divorced or something involving them who knows, but I agree the station at least needs to say something generic. Like P & K are not longer with the station.

Well, here are my 2 cents. I have a couple questions, rhetorical in nature. Do you hear much cross promotion of P&K? And, would they be on vacation this long? The only person I see who would have the pull for such a long vacation would be the person around whom the station revolves. So, indefinite vacation? Are the other shows permitted to talk about P&K? Hmmm, I only hear short evasive answers (generic as they may be) to the questions pondered by listeners. If they did indeed have a disagreement w/ management, would it really be resolved by moving to a news talk station. I do not think P&K are of that genre, Hopefully they are flexible, but if someone wants them out, wouldn't they want them ALL the way out? We'll see soon won't we? Who knows who would be a candidate for replacement, but I do believe BDH has always been on at night for his own reasons. I think he likes being a night stalker. ???

Just as Confused AS YOU!

Night stalker? Well maybe...

But some people like working nights because they don't have to put up with the office politics that go on during the daytime business hours.

We can expect a Richie Whitt tell-all article about this in about 9 months.

What would crosstalk with Jagger and Russ be like? ;D

I have a feeling P&K got Greggo'd in this whole situation. While it was way past time for them to go, they needed to be thrown out. They added nothing to the station and were at best filler material that could sell ads. Pugs will probably stay on Dallas radio, prolly end up at the ticket like someone else mentioned here. I have a feeling they're going to try to syndicate adam carolla here in mornings and move either jagger or BDH into the 12-3 slot. BTW, ive listen to the guys show, it isnt half bad, its certainly better than anything P&K is putting out.

BTW, Greggo'd: When an on-air personality is promised one thing by managment then is screwed over.

Just curious, the guy that you are referencing; Jagger Corolla, or BDH? Also, love the term "Greggo'd"! Expect to see it in the next edition of Merriam-Webster!

while i did not really listen to the show that often, one thing came to mind a month or two ago. BDH seemed to fill in quite often for one of the hosts. Seemed like either P or K was off for some reason a number of times. maybe they mentally checked out awhile back.

Carolla. Ive liked the guys work for years..he's better w/o bonnaduce, that guy dragged down his show.

Checked "Greggo'd"! In the dictionary it actually means: To screw ones self out of a great job by Lying, and doing illegal drugs while doing ones job. Also see Screwing over friends, and Hey here is the pity party.....
