Very easy to throw darts from the sidelines. Interesting that your critique comes with no real issues. Fact is, mid days on LIVE have been weak for some time. Fact remains, Russ will not tolerate a quality show before his...because he will forever worry about being overshadowed. You will not see BDH in Mid days...my guess... I think you will find another P&Kish show with no real substance to it.
That would not be hard to do... :
VERY WELL SAID...Russ is a tyrant...It's a shame that a man so talented is so ugly inside...
Again, you guys show your radio knowledge. You're right, Russ, or anyone else for that matter, wouldn't want a strong lead in. Good Call and good thinking.
Anybody that has ever listened to Russ knows one thing: he is absolutely terrified of NOT being the alpha male at the station. He has never leant one iota of support to any other show, nor has he ever remotely engaged in anything close to “team work”. Whenever a new show comes on, he makes it a point to spend a week’s worth of time running down the show and its hosts. He is scared of not being the focal point of the station. He used to go on and on about how much P&K sucked, and then the next week he would say that he has never heard a single minute of the P&K show. Which one is it? You can’t have it both ways. Whether he had heard the show or not (which, of course he had, his claim to of never heard it was of course another facade) one thing is for sure-he believes he can ensure his role as alpha male by running off any other competition, no matter how good or bad they are. His shtick concerning this is as transparent as it is pathetic. His loyal small group of listeners will automatically hate the new show and never give it a chance because Russ told them so. Ultimately he is shooting himself in the foot by not supporting any other show (O’Malley’s show doesn’t count. He was kind of nice about that show, but he absolutely slaughtered Tasso’s. If O’Malley wasn’t on Russ’ show, you can bet your boots that Russ would run their show into the ground) because that costs listeners. Gavin didn’t keep Russ in check, Russ and Gavin teamed up to run the station into the ground. Can’t wait to see what band-Aid they slap on midday’s to stop the hemorrhaging. Good luck with that, new guy. Congrats to BDH for getting the hell away from that sinking ship.
