Ernie & Jay on KRLD

If you think this board has any impact on anything going on in the industry you're just wrong.

And you have proof of this?

Sorry but there are some things discussed here that do impact what aires on the radio. Open your eyes man, and you'll see it.

Yes, kudos to Ernie and Jay for getting into the whole numbers.
I don't know Jay, but I have known Ernie for nearly a quarter century, and genuinely like the man. He was very popular among his co-workers at KVET in Austin, and was welcomed with open arms when he came back to KRLD in 2002. He didn't die there; he left because the station changed to an all news format.
Since he has come back, I had thought he was doing the best work of his career. Since his pairing with Jay, I'm not so sure, but I understand why they would want him to carry 5 hours. I miss the know-it-alls. That was a fun segment.
It takes a long time to establish a talk format, and not nearly as long to piss away an audience. For his sake, I hope he has the chance to stay a long time. For my sake, I hope he goes on to another national show real soon...

ps- I don't work for KRLD, and very sincerely doubt I ever will.

Up only a few tenths? Now you're just not being truthfull. And you continue to suggest that anyone who has a differing opinion must work for the station. You say that you have the numbers right in front of you. Do you work for KRLD? This whole line of reasoning is just silly. And where you get the idea that Ernie and Jay are following Mark Davis is just silly. 1. There are only so many issues out there to talk about. 2. If Jeff Bolton or Mike Gallager does a topic at 5am does that mean that anyone else who does that topic the rest of the day is just following their lead? Come on man? Talk show hosts talk about the issues that people are talking about. I've heard Ernie and Jay do topics weeks before Davis gets around to them. I also hear them do topics every day that no one else gets to. I also hear Mark Davis do hour after hour of national topics that E&J never talk about. 3. Ernie and Jay do not get wrapped up in the two sided nature of politics today. That makes them completely different than everyone else. Plus the idea of a tandem joking around and having fun while talking about the issues has been very entertaining. 4. Get over yourselves. You really think that what is said on this board is so troublesome to a talk show host that they would get someone to log on and defend them? How self important can you be? They have talk shows and a way to express their opinions. I only know of one talk show host in this market who cares about what is said here and that's the all important JD Wells. No one else cares man! Again, get over yourselves! If you think this board has any impact on anything going on in the industry you're just wrong. If you had a talk show you would probably be focusing on the next days issues instead of trying to defend stupid comments like,"ooh, it sounds like another sales person at KRLD has logged on to defend E&J."

I understand your passion for Ernie and Jay. I'm just not a big fan of therirs. Doesn't mean there bad. I don't care for Mark Davis. He's a good talent but I think he preaches too much. Reminds me of Sean Hannity. :'( Yes I DO have the ratings in front of me. I haven't quoted them in numbers because Radio-Info won't allow me to do that.

And yes i'm employed. Got out of radio full time because i have a wife and kids to support. Unfortunately in today's radio it's difficult to make a decent living. I do remain in radio parttime however.

To answer Grantchester...Bad choice of words for me to use. Ernie didn't die. He's very much still alive :D

Discussions are what they are in many forms;praise, criticism, neutral. Its sorta like politics, and politics begate talk shows ,ad nauseaum. Sometimes the dialogue, can be tense, so some of us make with the light jokes, not to bring the house down, but to lighten the load and try to diffuse the tension. It fails at times, cest la vie'. Some just want to be narrow focused and argue, some just dismiss it. Oh well. There are many topics, some will get p'oed, some will agree, some will be the critic, others will defend. Welcome to life,it goes on all the time, and the board is no different.

agreed...

Like I said earlier...you radio guys have some points I genuinely take an interest in..even if I don't agree(I STILL say KTCK blows chunks...I thought this was a SPORTS station, not a brothel...ohhh never mind, forget it). And agree or disagree, it gives those of us NOT in radio a different perspective on things...the side your average joe might not ever know about...and for that, your opinions are appreciated.

The preceding was brought to you courtesy of a Dallas Radio Fan, who, by the way, still doesn't work in radio..which is why he still has most of his hair in it's original color.. ;)

Lucky you... My hair started changing color before I even got into radio :( I was a blonde as a kid. Now I'm a dull brown w/ grey temples. :(

Oh well.....

Robert will be hosting the "Hair Club For Men" show right after the recipe file this wednesday.

I bet he doesn't get asked which high school he goes to anymore.. :D As long as they don't ask him if he's Dr. Griffin, he's still doing ok.

No... The question I get is "Is KEOM holding you back every year because you keep flunking radio?"

R

Or is KEOM too much the way radio should be ,that you enjoy it..Do I hear an AMEN?

"Do you guys make Robert Bass work all the time? I notice he's still on the air in the 5:00 AM hour the following day"
