ESPN 1000 should be embarrassed

> > A league championship is a league championship. Period.
>
> Ah yes!!!!!! But it is not a World Series
> Championship!!!!!! Come talk to me when you actually win
> that World Series Championship!!!!!!!

A Cub fan has the stones to say that?!?!?!?!?

Newsflash! Since the Cubs last won a World Series (1908), they've been in 7 of them and lost them all - all before 1945. Since 1908, the Sox have won one (1917), lost one (1959), and threw one (1919). And they're in another one now. The Cubs aren't.

Sorry, but baseball bragging rights in Chicago have been owned by the Sox more often than not, including now. Since divsion play began in 1969 the Sox have had more winning seasons (18 vs 12 for the Cubs) and both teams have the same number of playoff appearances (4 each).

And before that argument starts, who gives a flying crap how many people go to each ballpark other than the team owners? There are about as many true Cub fans as true Sox fans. The rest of the sheep that go to Wrigley are the same bandwagonning drunken yuppies & suburbanoids that went to Comiskey Park in the '70s and followed Harry Caray to the north side. These are not true fans of either team. They just want to be seen going to where the action is. That action is now on the south side and many of them will start infesting USCellular Field now, unfortunately.

At least you seem like a good Cub fan. If you hate the Sox I can respect that. I'll never cheer for the Cubs but I respect good knowledgeable fans of any team. I'd rather talk (argue?) baseball with a real Cub fan than one of those useless bandwagonners.

And real Cub fans should quit whining about the Sox success and be all over the Tribune Company like flies on s### to get them to improve their own team. They spend but they don't spend wisely. Spending money for the sake of spending money doesn't work. Just ask George Steinbrenner.

Oh, by the way...GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

> Who is listening to the radio past 1am on a Sunday night?

I was (at least online). I had The Score's internet stream all night and loving every minute of it. Even Mike North was less obnoxious than usual. :-D

Cubs fan here, and if there's one big positive for "our side" about the Sox going to the World Series maybe it will be what Keith details in his second-to-last paragraph. Maybe the Trib will have to make good sensible baseball moves. But I'm not holding my breath. Sox in five.

Tim

I am also near Plainfield South High School right off of Caton Farm and County Line Road and yes reception of AM 1000 is horrible here at night especially lately. I was listening late saturday night early sunday morning and the station was down for maintenance I think because I was picking up a station out of Oklahoma City. I didn't get the calls but heard a commercial for a car dealer in OKC.

AS for our Cub fan B who posted above about the cell being such a bad place with drunks Its funny how you can talk about a few drunks at the Cell when the only reason people go to Wrigley is to get Drunk. I guess its like they say people drink to forget, In your case and many other cub fans you been trying to forget for 97 years now. GO SOX

The station is KTOK in Oklahoma City. I worked a few months there. Good station.

If you aren't up at that hour, you, obviously, don't have a clue to the number of people out and about heading to work--or who are working. I leave for work generally between 2:30 and 3:00 AM.

The White Sox in the World Series is going to put pressure on ALL the other sports teams in the market to try and improve their organizations. This is good for all of Chicago sports--from HS to pro.
