First for Christmas music, when?

Magic?
My?

When?

I'm putting my money on Magic, probably 11/12 (Friday)? They were 2nd at it last year but I have a feeling they won't let that happen this year.
They need to tighten their playlist up this year since the wide variety didn't work for them.

Today Jeff Rollins said something about Christmas coming soon and he reminded us his station was the one for Christmas music.

The only one of his stations I know of in S.C. is actually in Savannah--WSEG. There may be others I don't know about. Oh, yeah, WIOZ in Pinehurst. That reaches the northeast end of the state. And WHKP in Hendersonville might reach a few people north of Greenville and Spartanburg. It's only part-time.

i don't think it matters who goes first. people will only listen to christmas music when they are ready and then the station with the best mix will win.

I can see Carolina 92 in Columbia going Christmas... I don't think it will be Halloween, but could see it happening right around Thanksgiving... With it being a very soft AC I can see them having lots of great Christmas tunes which and here is the BIG if "They Promote It"... CC1

I know, but it is always interesting to see who does.

I don't really buy in to the "first" thing either.

I think it will be interesting too, even though the old rule of thumb used to be to never start until the day after Thanksgiving and think that is the way it should stay even though I love Christmas music.

I never added any Christmas music till at least Dec-1, and then one an hour. This new gimmick is amazing to me.

Star 92.1 - Myrtle Beach will go Christmas as they started last year with it or year before. They used to only go play all Christmas music on Christmas Eve (starting at 4pm or 5pm) and Christmas Eve.

In Charleston, SC Y 102.5 going Christmas not sure when.

WMYI in Greenville should just go ahead and go now. What do they have to lose? They were #9 in the Summer book. Peeee-yuuuuu.

Have you listened to them lately? The numbers aren't surprising. ::)

If Magic has a more solid mix than '09, they'll win Christmas this year, which has been rare if ever done. They have greatly improved their sound recently while WMYI has done nothing.

Well, really, listen to WMYI and you'll already get as much sleep as you want with the regular format :D overall stability is good, but they have become too stagnant/predictable and we see where that has gotten them.

I forget 89.3/WLFJ goes all-Christmas late in November, usually. So technically Greenville has 3 all-Christmas stations ::)

Heres a quote from Magic's Facebook Post:
Every year we get so many e-mails, some who WANT Christmas music as early as possible and some who want to wait. We've tried to come up with the best solution for everyone! Now if you want Christmas Music you can go to our website and listen to Christmas music streamed on your computer. We also have the regular musi...c to stream as well. And while you may hear a song or two now and then on the air, we won't be going full launch until later in the month!

It looks like they might start Cristmas Music around he same time they did last year, wouldnt think they would do it anytime later. Magic has Holiday Music to listen to on their website.

Wmyi also has a Crhistmas 24/7 Stream on their website.. heres a quote from their facebook page:
We're getting in the Christmas spirit! Christmas music is available online, 24 hours a day, at wmyi.com!

Like they won't switch before Thanksgiving, but what the heck:

Magic Morning Show With Bo & Lauren
Bo & Lauren can't agree on when to start playing Christmas music. If you're on Bo's side and want to start hearing it before Thanksgiving, check out this new fan page. If we get enough "fans" Magic 98.9 will become "The Christmas Station" before Thanksgiving!

from facebook

Just a matter of time up this way. WMYI is informing listeners to listen for Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree as they have some contest.

::) insane. I bet a lot of stations across the country will be Christmas by the end of the week.

Who wants to bet that both stations (My and Magic) will start Friday at 5PM? Magic has been trying to ramp up Facebook support, claiming that the hosts must convince the higher ups to start (yeah right), and My has been teasing the first airing of Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree for a couple of weeks now. Both stations have been getting flooded with calls and emails requesting it.

Historically, they usually start Friday at 5PM, so I'm betting that is what will happen this time.

My started in the 4PM hour I think around this time last year on a Thursday, then Magic started around 5PM the next day, I believe. It's almost here.

Magic has already played "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" sandwiched inbetween The Bee Gees and something else this afternoon and have been playing some Christmas songs in the morning. I'm not sure if 102.5 has played anything yet.
