First for Christmas music, when?

I'm a little confused as to why they would take the classic hits station all-Christmas? Why not the AC (the typical format that goes all-Christmas, but some classic hits stations do)?

Isn't WOMG the first all-Christmas station since Lite 96.7?

There was "Christmas 94.3" when WQNQ was changing format about 2 years ago.

I could care less about Christmas music, especially when we haven't gotten through Thanksgiving yet! Of course, it's just as bad when retailers put up Christmas decorations for sale in September.

104.3.

yes but it is who went first in columbia? listeners craving christmas music leave their radios on scan and document the first song because they have a diary. that is your winner. robyn, agree with you but the experts in the room will differ.

I could really care less to hear Christmas music this early. Have only listened to it a little bit to hear how each station is doing it and to see who has the best mix and is executing it the best Greenville: 98.9 IMO) ... I've switched to other stations now.

As for Columbia Christmas, it is not abnormal for a Citadel AC station to not go all-Christmas. There was a thread on the AC board a while back about how a lot of Citadel AC stations don't do it. Still, strange they put it on the classic hits compared to the more all-Christmas friendly AC.

Oh, WWNQ, not WQNQ.

Star 92.1 Myrtle Beach is now Christmas. I believe they went Christmas yesterday. Good time for stations to flip right after Thanksgiving.

What about WEZV? Although I read that Movin' was going to do it too.

Not sure, both are owned by the same company. Don't think both would go Christmas. As for both stations they are still playing their formats. Noticed a Christmas song on Movin 94.5 but thats once in a while. For Christmas music in Myrtle Beach its Star 92.1 they started doing it about 2 years ago. Before they would only play a Christmas song ever one or two songs then go straight Christmas on Christmas Eve till the end of Christmas at midnight.

Whew, it's ending. WMYI went back to AC around midnight. Magic 98.9 is still playing it.

Since Christmas fell on a Saturday, some stations are just playing the Christmas music the rest of the weekend and I guess will go back to their regular formats tomorrow. Are any other stations in SC doing this?

K-104.7 and Lite 102.9 didn't even make it until Sunday evening.

Here at WLRE we went to Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving with one quarter Christmas 3 quarters Country then we increased to 50% the end of the second week in December and went all Christmas on Christmas day and then went from Christmas music back to Country music at midnight Christmas night.

won't be long now till we see what the ratings santas brought the ho ho hoes.
Will be interesting to see if the Christmas music helps WMYI bounce, if WSPA strengthens their lead, or what

Has WSPA ever been as far ahead of WMYI 12+ as they are now in recent times?
