First for Christmas music, when?

Apparently it does in GSP, a very AC friendly market. Not many markets support two AC stations, and very few that have two that I'm aware of get the numbers these two get....12+ I know, but MY got a 5.2 and Magic got a 6.6 summer '10.

I wish WMYI would consider doing what CC did with former AC WNIC in Detroit, but I don't see a reason for them to change.

25-54 or maybe even 35+ but 12+ doesn't matter. quoting 12+ numbers in that format is ludricous in a diary recall age but its what we will talk about

I've always wondered about WESC 25-54 and how old they skew. I know they play some new songs but they are very gold leaning, going back to the 70s and 80s frequently... country leans a little older and the older songs add to that. They play some songs a lot of country stations woudn't touch.

The AC competition would be interesting to see since 102.5 isn't always the leader in the format that they used to be

At WLRE we play some 50's and 60's as well as 70's and 80's that you won't hear most anywhere else along with new songs and smile while we are doing it and yes we have a really good reason to do it, our listeners.

Is WMYI-FM My 102.5 STILL playing Christmas music????? That station is so dammed canned and automated- I wouldn`t be surprised!!!!!!!!!!-LOL!

Of course all I see is 12+ but while both all-Christmas stations were down, the Magic of Christmas did better for Entercom than all-Christmas did for CC. WMYI was always the all-Christmas leader...I can't think of when Entercom has beaten them in the holidays. Nice book for 98.1 and 92.5.

maybe the novelty of an all christmas station is gone. wssl won the month of december not either of the christmas stations.

I don't think Christmas is getting old. They're just doing it poorly these days. Bad music mix, bad positioning. Heck, MYI not only used to beat SPA, they'd often be #1 for Fall with the Christmas bump. This was a crappy Fall book for both AC's.

All-Christmas has been strong this past year in most markets. I agree that both stations could have done it better, WMYI uses the national Clear Channel feed for music. I remember when WMYI was regularly in the top 5 and Magic was hardly a threat to them. Funny what can happen in 4 or 5 years. I don't agree with everything they do, but 98.9 sounded solid when I listened this week...the best in ages.

Take a look at WMAG Greensboro, NC. I guess this is what happens when you're the only one.
