Like I said (previous page) .... if you found out who was programming you'd realize WHY it sounds like KBSG (including same jingle package).
I still haven't heard who was programming it BEFORE. Previous postings made it sound as if they participated on this forum. Listeners could tell it wasn't just categories of songs being played from a "hot clock," but segues of music that often flowed together in a way that made it all seem grander than the sum of its parts.
On the other hand, the current "formula" sounds like an old dog who can't learn any new tricks - even when it comes to playing music produced 30-50 years ago.
At least a couple of weekend or evening specialty shows where a host can really get into the music would be fun. Or a re-creation of the old style radio with the earlier jingle packages and all. Doesn't have to be 24/7 - could be weekends, or holiday weekends, or Saturday nights, etc. -- when people who want to listen to something that isn't just a passive collection of the same thing as anytime, anywhere would be inclined to tune in and get into it. And when the rest of the audience is watching TV.
By the way, are any of the rest of you finding you have to log in each time to this forum since the Radio-Info home page changed last weekend? Even if you click "log on - forever."

I called that weeks ago. It figures. Had his filthy finger prints all over it from the get go. That's why the station sucks so bad now. I could tell it was him as soon as they started playing all the Aretha, Motown, etc. Jeez! How does that guy keep getting his grubby hands on stations to run them into the ground??? He's like the Mitt Romney of radio!
He goes all the way back to Topeka Kansas when he worked for Oscar and Stanley Stauffer. He programmed their 97-FM station with TM's Stereo Rock (remember that automated format 2 currents a gold and album play and the voicetracked "that was {song, artist} and before that {song, artist)? He did manage a #1 rating in a city competing against 3 other FM's (country, top 40 and easy listening) back in 1981-82.

He's been around too long, ruining too many stations and needs to be put out to pasture....permanently.

I am using IE to get on the internet. Why should that now be a problem?

Well, check out KMCQ's facebook page. There are a lot of people unhappy with the programming changes. One post lamented about not being able to get rid of Jay Kelly in Seattle and referred to him as a "boomerang programming boob". So, the so-called complainers aren't limited to Radio-Info.
The Stranger also did an article lamenting the loss of the old format.

Yes I do. I think the average former KMCQ listener is a lot more sophisticated than the bird brains that show up to your idiotic focus groups telling you that they want to hear more Steve Miller, Fleetwood Mac and Chicago. Also, Kelly's name was mentioned in that Seattle Weekly article as the genius who's screwed up the station.

Although I admit that KMCQ does have a lot of audacity in playing the songs that people want to hear.

There should not be a vendetta against anyone. Jay is a good-ole Kansas Boy who made it big in his capital city, moved on to Iowa, several other venues before settling in the Pacific Northwest with his stints at KBSG and KJR. It's not his fault that Trila hired him to program KMCQ - Why would he turn down an opportunity to earn a living and further his career? If KMCQ does not turn out successfully, then lets discuss the reasons why that occurred - but let's refrain from attacking or belittling anyone personally.

Mookie, if you like the new KMCQ, great for you. Keep listening dude. There are a whole lot of us who liked the programming before Bumstead and Jay Kelly ruined it for us.
