A classic case of Radio Lifesupport. Pull the freakin plug already!
I remember being in the CC building 2 years ago and all the staff was predicting a format flip on that frequency any day... Can't believe it's still around.

Is it just not a good station? What makes it any better or worse than KSON?

I'm sure David E will have all the good engineering data on this. Ironic that 95.9 under Nationwide was country for a while. Then Magic was brought in ... and the rest is radio history.

Eau Claire, WI
Bismarck, ND
(OK, those don't really support any hypothesis regarding San Diego...)

Froggy and Bob in Fargo are both young leaning... no other Fargo station with any ratings... a rimshot FM to the NW and the Jamestown AM. Fargo has over 15 country shares.
In Eau Claire, Clear has a contemporary country station, and a Waylon and Merle country station. The country gold station is 11th in a market with 11 viable stations... and bills about a quarter of what the other CC country station bills... and less than 20% of what the leading country station does. And that's a market with 25 country shares.
And that's my point... keep KSON from taking a more dominant position, Clear has to stay contemporary. Of course, there just aren't the country shares in SD that we see in the frozen plains.

I'd imagine KWKH in Shreveport has to do well, or else they would have nuked it I'm sure.
KYKX in San Antonio probably does alright too.
