Format holes in LA

Technically, One Republic's biggest hit is guesting on a Timbaland track

GUESTING on a Timbaland track? They wrote and performed the entire song, and Timbo added a drumbeat to it...

At this point, I think you're defending KIIS at all costs, not just by insisting that they lean Rhythmic (which is true), but by insisting that the artists they play are "bigger" than the artists they skip

One Republic is a HUGE CHR artist (3 Top 10 hits, and 2 Top 15 hits) - Nicki Minaj is not (nothing has cracked the Top 15 until now)

I do think though that after years of listening to KIIS (assuming you live in L. A.), you're convinced that what KIIS plays is huge and what KIIS skips is not - and sorry but that's pretty crazy, seeing has how from the early 2000s through about a month ago it's essentially been a Rhythmic station

NO, IT WAS NOT!! You do not live in Los Angeles. You have no idea what KIIS has sounded like for the past 10 years.

Yes I do, man - Mediabase produces playlists, and I've seen them for the past 10 years, on a weekly basis - and it's common knowledge, all over the internet, that from the early-mid 2000s through 2011, KIIS was nearly Rhythmic - I can't even believe this point is being argued

And what KIIS plays and what KIIS skips IS HUGE. This is Los Angeles. It is the second largest radio market in the country. KIIS is the #1 station in PPM numbers, and is the most influential CHR station in the country.

KIIS has been programmed as a borderline Rhythmic station for the past seven years (or more), and everyone in the industry knows that - tons of pop/rock tracks have become HUGE CHR hits without KIIS's support, and many have even hit #1 on the CHR charts without ever being added by KIIS

KIIS skipping out on pop/rock tracks has had absolutely no effect on the success of huge hits throughout the past decade - it has a unique target demo that 95% of all other CHRs don't have, and everyone in the industry knows that

(My apologies--I forgot to scream "NERD ALERT". :D)

Referring to yourself? I agree :D You might not want to put yourself down like that, though...
Hey we're all nerds on here ::). But let's talk about what station can fill the big whole as a mainstream urban in L.A. IMO KJLH can easily flip from adult R&B to mainstream urban. KJLH is pretty big on Big Sean's My Last, Lil' Wayne's How To Love, Swizz Beatz Everyday Coolin', Frank Ocean's Novacane, Kelly Rowland's Motivation and Lupe Fiasco's Out of My Head. KJLH can actually lure listeners who grew up on "The Beat". BTW I'm a nerd too ::)
