Another funny one: "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" (Sophie B. Hawkins) into a CHURCH SERVICE!!

Just about laughed myself right off the road....

Try "Running With the Devil" into a worship service on for size. The only two times in my entire career my dad (a textiles exec) ever critiqued my radio skills (both times were very early in my career)was that time and the time I laughed while reading obituaries because I mispronounced a word.

How about these..

There are, indeed, a lot of songs you never hear on the radio here. But there are a few that are back on the radio if you know where to look for them:

* Herb Alpert/"Rise" -- A staple of most Smooth Jazz stations these days, if there's still one in your market;

* Andy Kim/"Rock Me Gently" -- Starting to show up on more Oldies stations as that format moves into the '70s. (Has the advantage of being a pure pop '70s record that you won't hear on AC and an artist with a '60s connection.)

* Prince/"I Wanna Be Your Lover" -- Actually a staple of WLTW (not so Lite 106.7) New York in recent years. And never disappeared from Urban AC.

* England Dan & John Ford Coley/"I'd Really Love To See You Tonight" -- Most of their others are indeed forgotten, but an AC station that plays the '70s will usually play this. So, again, will most Oldies stations these days.

* Firefall/"Just Remember I Love You" -- Not as easy to find on the radio as "You Are The Woman," but, again, shows up on some ACs that play the '70s.

* Pilot/"Magic" -- Like "Rock Me Gently," I'm hearing it a lot more on Oldies stations and some older-leaning ACs these days.

* Rocky Burnette/"Tired Of Toeing The Line" -- Showed up again on some of the Jack/Bob-type stations, most notably KPKX (the Peak) Phoenix.

Nope not here in Eastern North Carolina.

Possible, AllenV wanna comment here..

Probably so, but not on a AC/Classic Top 40 oriented station as we're discussing here.

I agree here, I'd Really Love To See You Tonight does see more airplay than their other hits and their other hits should be played.

This is true.

Again not in Eastern North Carolina does this one play.

From the lists I had time to read, the following are on every Smooth Jazz station I've listened to:

Morning Dance-Spyro Gyra
Sweet Baby-The Clarke-Duke Project
Rise-Herb Alpert
The Hustle-Van McCoy
Real Love-Doobie Brothers
Yah Mo B There- James Ingram/Michael McDonald
Songbird-Kenny G

Amazing how that happened.

To my knowledge of, there is NOT a Smooth Jazz station in Eastern North Carolina unless someone wants to volunteer calls, frequency and city of license of said station. So those songs are not played here.

And besides all of those songs played on Top 40 radio since they were in my The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits Volume 7 By Joel Whitburn, but you don't hear them on an AC/Classic Top 40/Oldies formatted staion.

101.1 WZTK plays smooth jazz on the weekends, but lots of times around Raleigh it fights with The PartyFM I think it's called, so there probably is not much chance of getting that in Eastern NC. :-[

Wow... thirteen solid pages of "Forgotten Classics", and I'm the first person to mention "More Than Just The Two Of Us" by Sneaker? :-\

I hadn't forgotten it, but you beat me to it! That was going to be in my next list. Great song.

How about:

lots of great songs on this post...i can't think of any that hasn't already been posted, but this is great...lots of songs to bring back memories and others...well....i won't go there. if this "station" ever gets off the ground and has an online stream...i want to listen to it....

A lot of these songs show up now and then on my favorite online station, www.1650oldiesradio.com.
It's not all-forgotten-favorites-all-the-time, but when was the last time you heard "Free," or "Lowdown," both by Chicago? Heard 'em both in recent weeks.
