Never mind the fact of how metros are lumped up together now for the sake of clustering from the corporations. Since when did the Triad become the Greensboro market? It seems that Winston Salem, which is almost as large as GSO, as well as High Point, which is in the top 7 cities in NC, would at least get a mention, but no. Bottom lining everything and moving stations into cluster markets, that has really been a sore spot in the industry. The word "Cluster" seems to fit the situation.
One of the problems is that ever since WTQR was the last to leave in around 2000, no commercial FMs have studios in Winston-Salem. I'm not even sure WSJS does. WPOL (which according to the Journal lists of high school sports broadcasts, DOES have an FM signal at 103.5) simulcasts on WKEW, so the studios could be either place. WEGO and the non-commercial FMs (and WBFJ-AM) are all that is left. Did 1500 AM ever come back?audiomusiclover said:nuffsaid said:There use to be a spark to the presentation of radio and that was not to very long ago but I am sad to say it is really boring now. WEGO, when it was WTIX, also had night power during the day and I couldn't even hear a clear signal in some parts of the city.
