Corporations these days are happy to push successful regional hosts out the door.
They will survive because there is hardly any competition. A clever and creative jock or host better be ready for "yes Sir, No Sir, would you like some coffee, Sir?" because radio is no longer the radio business, it is just a business. Little creativity, lots of shareholders to take care of. Why is Matty in The Morning still on and the Big Mattress on the internet? All due respect to Loren & Wally but they are not nearly as legendary as Charles and he could always find something funny to bring the numbers up if they started leveling off. Karlson & McKenzie instead of Charles? All those listening to K & M raise their hands...not all at once now...
This is NOT an endorsement of Carr; it's just a statement of the reality that is radio 2007. The Corporation is bigger than the on-air talent and the audience means nothing unless a strong campaign made to the advertisers can get their attention.
Otherwise, replace Ted Knight's laugh with Arnold saying "Hasta la vista, baybee...
or better still, play Arnold right after Ted
