Heads rolling at major NJ station?

Apparently the 7-midnight show on the Breeze's sister station Thunder Country that was voicetracked by Randy Davis is now gone. Perhaps they will run one of the syndicated night time country programs during that time slot, like several of the other country stations in the area do.

I think Thunder Country's days may be numbered... that 94.7 thing has to be putting a dent in their numbers. Haven't been able to look at them yet, but I can't see how it wouldn't hurt them on their northern coverage area. Nash is doing it much better musically than Thunder and their oddball mix.

If you have a big "national" competitor up the road, now is the time to double down and get MORE local, not less.

Hopefully Randy lands on his feet (Mike too), perhaps doing bigger and better things at Nash-FM.

Why did they let him go? Finances? I would think based on their number that they are still very healthy. Maybe management just decided to go in another direction??

Maybe Press is trying to conserve cash in preparation for the movement of its two TV stations East. The FCC just approved the movement of its Ely, NV station to 'Middletown' and the movement of its Jackson Hole, WY station to 'Wilmington, DE'. I'm sure the move will be costly-especially in towner rental costs as the 'Middletown' station will be transmitting from 4 TS in NYC and the 'Wilmington' station will be coming from the Roxborough Antenna Farm near Philadelphia.

Nina was filling in this morning. Like everywhere else I assume that Press Communications is dropping large salaries.

Weird. Listened on the commute home, and they are now calling themselves "107-1 and 99-7." References to the Breeze are few and far between.

Ah yes. Because in a diary market, using an easy to remember moniker like "The Breeze" would be stupid ;D

Place has been a hell hole to work at for awhile - anyone who was let go from there in the past 8 or so years was relieved when they could finally not have to come back.

Two decent signals to blanket the Jersey shore and summer's coming... if they're going to flip em, why not go EDM? Or Alt Rock?

Can't wait to hear those new jingles, too. I imagine "107-1 and 99-7" would sound great in a jingle package. ::)

Is Dan Turi still the PD? Seems like some sort of rebranding must be under way. Hopefully the departed staff members will resurface somewhere - maybe CBS-FM can find room for Randy and Mike?

I'm sharing the same dream man!! The announcer yesterday says, the shore's best variety, 107.1 and 99.7... Only at the top of the hour or so they say listen live on breezeradio.com. Flip em already!

They've also dumped all '70s music from the playlist and added a lot of 2000s music and current AC hits -- the same thing they did back in the summer of 2011:

...but ratings declined sharply, and by November 2012, they were back to a Classic Hits-oriented format, with much less '90s and 2000s music:

Huge mistake, definately off my presets again. I really don't understand Press, with the same music heard on countless other radio stations. I really wish they'd just get out of the radio business. Have someone with some common sense come in, put alternative back on 106.3 and the old breeze format on 107.1. And their other property, B98.5 is also a failure. it sure will be interesting because I'm sure that Nash FM is cleaning the clock of Thunder, which was their only "success" recently.

This just proves WHO is in control of their playlist. Nobody likes to EARN their money anymore, they just want handouts and they sell out.

Thunder Country now has another DJ (possibly voice tracked) on at nights, replacing the voice tracking that was done by Randy Davis.
I do not expect that Nash FM will take many listeners from Thunder in its primary listening area. Thunder is more local, and probably has a stronger signal down the Jersey shore.
Personally, the music mix on Thunder seems great, offering variety by playing some good stuff that is not heard on the other stations.
