...But screw the people who work at Dave, huh? [EDIT] If Dave went away, all those people unemployed would make you happy? Because they somehow would deserve it for working at a station that is, as you say, "a bad version of Jack?" They're people with jobs, for God's sake. With bills and families and everything else all the people you "like" at the radio stations you "like" have to worry about. It's such a shame they weren't prescient enough to find employment at a station that meets with your approval. What are you going to do? Call them all personally, if and when a day comes that they no longer have jobs at Dave, to tell them of their stupidity for choosing to work there? [EDIT]
[EDIT=personal attacks.]
No. I don't advocate people getting fired. The reality is that radio is very dog eat dog.
Stations filp and/or people get fired all the time. 99x has heritage and to me that still means something.
The Buzz is a current trend setting station. I think most people would be in agreement there is 1 or 2 too many
rock stations. Atlanta doesn't have enough rock listerners to support 92.9 DAVE, 96rock, 97.1 The River, 99x, 105.3 the Buzz.
Were you upset when people lost their jobs when Z93 filpped to DAVE? Did you write and protest?
Seriously, welcome to reality. If a station under performs, usually they go away (exception 'GST).
If that makes me an ass, so be it. My one note rant about bringing quality entertainment back to radio is my deal.
If you want an IPOD station, go and support there advertisers. Tell them you listen to DAVE and heard their commerical.
Call them everyday. Get an arbitron diary and write down you listen 24/7.
If you want an honest opinion, here's one - 99x has sucked for most of 2006 until recently.
Steve Craig is doing an excellent job of put together the right mix of music.
The Buzz is doing great and their summer trends are kicking serious ass.
The music is smoothing out nicely and they are gaining a huge fan base.
Kudos to Chris Williams and crew.
DAVE fired Barnes and their afternoon guy. The want to be all music based with less personality.
Like other stations in the country that format doesn't really work. People want DJ's on their radio station, they want personality.
So I don't want screw the people at DAVE. The management has screwed them over already.
