Houston area radio notes (update thread)

Is La Nueva broadcasting from K241CO? Maybe? Or does it have a weak signal?
The few times I was in the translator’s coverage area and checked it was a lot weaker than expected. But they were relaying KSHJ

K241CO has a very limited coverage area, perhaps a three or four mile uneven radius. I think they are running much less than the licensed 250 watts. I normally hear it with a decent signal at my house, but at the Willowbrook Mall parking lot (1960@249) it is usually extremely weak, mixing with an equally weak KCDF.

Currently La Nueva has a much stronger signal than before, and it is blocking K241CO at my house. I may drive by the translator’s tower (290@BW8) on Tuesday to confirm they are still on the air.

Follow up: I took the long way around when running an errand today, and drove up to within a few feet of the base of the tower where K241CO is located. The station is OFF THE AIR. Crossed yagi antenna pointing northwest is still in place. Wonder if KSHJ is aware the translator is silent?

Meanwhile driving by the base of that tower I could hear a somewhat choppy but entirely listenable signal from La Nueva on 96.1. I could also hear it around 290@1960 at surprising level with very little fading.

KCDF is 22 miles from K241CO. KCDF is licensed for 4 watts @ 142 meters HAAT. In deference to the sticky post that remains at the top of the Houston board, I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

KLAT 1010 has been granted a License to Cover for its new nighttime operation from the existing day site, so they are back to fulltime operation.

Likely now more attractive for a sale, though that isn’t saying much. If LMN is folded into Audacy (as speculated elsewhere) could they move Westwood One Sports from 650 to 1010, while dumping the 650 license? Relevant Radio buys 1010 and shuts down or sells the 1110 daytimer? Guadeloupe Radio buys 1010 for the Spanish feed of EWTN to partner with the English feed on 1430?

Tech details of the 1010 operation in attachments to the L2C application:

Saw a couple of people on Reddit say that KTBZ was hijacked for about 10 minutes this evening. Repeating message mentioning Epstein. I haven't seen any proof of this - just passing it along.

94.1 is playing Spanish Christian music but terrible sound quality. Still has La Nueva RDS. La Nueva is dead air on 106.5 HD3, 96.1, & and 107.3

This may be a lot to ask (and I apologize in advance), but…

Does anyone have a complete list of Spanish-language/multicultural stations - both full-powered and low-powered - in/around the market?

I’ve been trying to keep a running list of all of them, and I know I’m losing track of likely a few.

Tracking the translators is a "fool's errand". They have gone through so many format/name changes since they came on the air and will likely continue to do so every few years.

It wouldn't surprise me if the owners of "La Calle" forgot how many translators they've been on at this point without looking at their calendars.

Throw in Vietnamese on KREH 900 and KGOW 1560.

South Asian programming on 1460/95.1, 1180/103.5, as well as 98.7.

KCHN 1050 is mostly Chinese with some South Asian programming. Do they still run the shows in Polish? Schedule on their website seems out of date.

103.3 on the south side of the market also running South Asian programming.

Does KHCB 1400/101.5 still have Vietnamese programming during the weekend? Haven’t checked lately.

There are several LPFMs running Spanish language religion.
