Howie Carr WRKO

I remember the days when people who worked for radio stations ACTUALLY LISTENED to the radio station.

That's an interesting point. Any indication that Kuhner or Howie listen to the station when they're not on? Do they ever reference other talk show hosts? You can bet if there was an outage or technical glitch during their show, they'd scream about it for days.

It's been years since I've listened to Howie, but can remember the only time he ever mentioned anything else from the station was just to bash "Felon" Finneran.

Howie was trying to escape from his Entercom
contract and would say, "Entercom happens" when a glitch appeared. He seemed happier with
iHeart and his show appears on several of their
stations.
Michele McPhee did a show for WTKK when it
was Greater Media (later it was Beasley) and one
time when a glitch happened she joked,
"Greater Media happens..."

I don't listen to kuhner, you'd have to pay me to listen to him.....and howie has been phoning it in for years and has basically become unlistenable especially since he hired the twit, but, I digress. Howie does refer to limbaugh every so often..says things like, rush said today that...bla bla bla....when I did listen to kuhner about 8 years ago give or take, he'd repeat almost verbatim what limbaugh said the day before and not mention that he heard rush say it and then when whatever it was came true, kuhner would take credit for it...see I told you....SMH....I have zero interest in listening to him.

I'm talking about 'back in the day' before I started listening to talkradio...back in the 70's and 80's is when employees of radio stations basically HAD to listen to the station, people like Mark Parenteau, Matt Siegel, etc etc etc and these days I would think if you're an engineer at the station you would take shifts and be listening in case something went wrong, these days the station (Talk1200) won't even answer the phone, return voicemails, answer emails respond to facebook messages, or even respond to twitter messages, just total silence except for one Iheart employee who posted his email addy in this forum for people to report any issues with the station. And my understanding is everything is programmed through a computer, no humans at the station and don't get me started on the repetitive newscasts, same tired newscast all damn day and nite, oh yes, they do change up a word or two every 6 hours or so, but, that's it, it's just the same thing over and over.

However, Limbaugh no longer airs on WRKO. That's what we're talking about. Limbaugh is on Talk 1200.

It's a good question, and I'm only saying why doesn't it apply to current talk show hosts? Why do they get a pass? Are they not employees of the radio station?

Earlier you wrote to me:
Remind me again how much you pay for this service?
Seems like you've finally come around and DO think employees of a station, whether on-air talent or engineering personnel, should listen to it.

I'm just responding to various posts. The fact is this is one of the most listened-to radio stations in Boston, and ratings have improved in the last few years. Employees may or may not listen, but clearly a lot of actual people do. And they don't seem to have many problems with the station. To be honest, there's not enough money in the world that would cause me to listen to this station. But that's just me.

Admittedly, a lot of listeners in this demographic may not even notice, and of those that do notice, they may not know who to contact or how. The days when you could find a station’s street address and phone number are long gone. And even for those of us who do notice and who do give a krappe, the channels of contact, such as they may be, usually lead to a dead end. And I’d even conjecture that station ownership/management likes it this way.

Because it mostly seems to happen when MOST people are asleep. If a tree falls in an empty forest, does it make a sound?
WRKO is not a tree; its listeners are not an empty forest. Their (and any other station's) on-air screwups DO make a sound, and an annoying one at that.

Talk 1200 is still a fairly strong signal in/around Boston. Their habitual screwing up was/is not good form.

But WRKO is now a force to be reckoned with. Their recent screwing up could portend more to come. NOT ACCEPTABLE. If iHeart wants to own big toys, it should at least know how to operate them.

First post. As far as WRKO @ 3am, They have Coast to Coast with George Noury.
It’s a nice opportunity to catch up on UFO’s, Bigfoot, the paranormal, and other sundry subjects.
Kind of Art Bell lite.

Wait till he gets a load of Schenectady on a Saturday night. Pre Covid-19 there was a restaurant on State St called Jimmy's or Johnny's that stayed open till 10:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Yea, that area had seen much better days. That's for sure. It was a big manufacturing location for GE. Drove thru there a couple summers ago. A lot of boarded up buildings and homes.
