Louisville I wonder what alt 105.1 apology is

One can only hope. I’ve never been a fan of the Alt format. I’d gladly welcome back classic Hip Hop, although I highly doubt that happens. Wouldn’t surprise me with the “apology” if they stunted with Christmas music a while. Or it could all be a fluke to boost engagement and launch into an album announcement or contest. I guess we’ll see what happens.

I don't think a format change is coming, unless it is a minor tweak. They're not going to hype up something that'll make listeners unhappy. The announcement looks a lot like their usual concert announcements even, though they never say anything about "apologizing" in them (unless that's a hint?).

The big announcement is that they’re moving Kenzie to mornings and getting rid of their current morning show. Which is a good move because what they have now is not much music. The response on their Facebook post is fairly positive.

The syndicated version of Woody stinks. Ditching that lame show is a wise move.

It's great to see that Connoisseur is attempting to fix Alpha Media's underachieving stations in markets such as Louisville and Dayton.

The apology 105 1 posted on its social media was clever. I enjoyed reading it.

I wonder if the station will continue its KPNT-like music format? I like it, personally. A straight up Rock format similar to the former WTFX would also be appreciated. How can anyone stand to listen to ultra boring WQMF?

She isn't local, she is at one of their sister stations in Michigan. She isn't exactly syndicated either though, at least not in the traditional sense, but she can be heard on a few other stations that they own.
Oh well woody show there flagship station was in Los Angeles so Michigan is alot closer. Progress

The Facebook post from the station announcing the change takes a shot at how we don’t need “some guy’s breakfast story from 800 miles away.”

No, instead, the new host is from (checks the map) 400 miles away. Not a real issue, but why be disingenuous about it?

She will be doing a show specifically for 105.1. It is not going to be a syndicated show.

Perhaps she is relocating to Louisville?
I may be mistaken, but I think she was always doing a separate one anyway. She isn't syndicated and never was, she's just an employee of Alpha (or whatever they're going by now) who appears on multiple stations. She is the programming director at 106.3 in Saginaw (where she also has a show), so I don't think she is going to relocate here to do a morning show, unless PK is on his way out and she is replacing him. I listened a little bit this morning, there was barely any talk at all on it (which I liked!). I don't think it was live either. She probably just records her little bits to go on air for each station and they're spread out into an entire 4 hours.

Question do ya think they revamped the morning show so they wouldn't have to pay to have a syndicated morning show or did they do it cause people complained?

Hard to tell, Patrick. While there are some costs to a syndicated morning show, it is very likely that at least part of it was barter.

The fact that they went through three different morning shows from 2018 to now is probably more of a reason. While Jubal's departure in 2020 led to the end of "Brooke and Jubal", "Dave and Mahoney" is still available in syndication via Compass (and appears to be stronger than ever) so I can't speculate as to why WGHL dropped them after only two years ... maybe Alpha Media thought Woody was a stronger program since it originates from an Alternative station rather than a Classic Rocker?

It is, of course, possible that there has been negative feedback from listeners and it is also possible that Connoisseur commissioned focus groups before making this decision. It is already obvious that not everything that was happening on the former Alpha stations will automatically continue now.

Thanks for the answer. As you know I live in LA but Louisville ky is my hometown and what surprised me is when alt 105.1 picked up the show. It doesn't seem cities like Louisville pick up shows on the West Coast. Like when 93.1 in Louisville flipped to hip hop years ago I thought they would go with big boy for there morning show but they didn't. But 105.1 does use Greg beharrel show at night just like 95.5 KLOS does.

On a different subject matter the classic hits station in la krth 101 and the classic hits in Louisville waky 103.5 are very different lots of 70s on waky but not on krth lots of 80s. Every market is different.

Off-topic, but your conclusion is right on the mark. Good programmers know how to read their market and program accordingly.

"It is, of course, possible that there has been negative feedback from listeners and it is also possible that Connoisseur commissioned focus groups before making this decision." Unless we have been transported back to 1995 (which in he state of the world today wouldnt be the worst thing) I highly doubt they are wasting "focus group money" on a station that is one of lowest rated FM signals in Louisville. They were able to flip Kenzie a few extra bucks to do a "more music morning show" (read: do 3 breaks an hour and play 13 songs and run 6 minutes of spots) The station has a 1.8 12+ why would thy keep paying 40-60k a year for a syndy show, that obviously wasnt moving the needle...

It is much more likely for that to happen after an ownership change, to find out why the "lowest rated station" they just acquired is in that situation, and to find out what the audience is more likely to want as changes.
