If WRKO offered Howie mornings...

so TSB,

who do you suppose made the first call? Carr or WTKK?

Not sure, but I'd think that Howie had his rep make sure that WTKK knew of his possible future availability. Howie also changed attornies, from Popeo, the litigator, to Cohen, an expert, maybe the expert, in non-compete agreements. But, obviously, this thing has been in the cooker for longer than the past two or three weeks.

And, do you think this had anything to do with the Blazer hire? like, the former pd didn't go along with this decision, for many of the reasons you just cited?

It would be hard to think of O'Connor, with her old Jerry Williams connection, being too happy at hearing that Carr would be considered for AMD. With the kind of money supposedly being bandied about here, the decision to hire Carr would be above the PD's paygrade, but I don't think any station would consider it healthy to have a PD that was openly, or even covertly, hostile to their new, big money, hire.

Certainly not as big a market as Boston, but Orlando's WTKS (Real Radio) had been doing real well in the ratings; maybe even top 5. Since I left there in late 2001, not sure of ratings but it still seems to be going strong based on their site.

Currently, they're running around 12th overall, and some of that may be helped by the fact that they dump the talk on the weekends and start rocking.

If you look at their current weekday program line-up, they seem to get away from the issue oriented talk and go for straight entertainment. Heck, seems like a station I might dial in if I'm ever back in Central FLA. Whatever, they certainly seem to give their competition on AM (WDBO) a pretty good run for their money.

When I compare markets to Boston (11), I usually stop around #25. I didn't get to Orlando (34.) The market dynamics have really changed a lot when you start getting that far down.

Regards,
TSB
