Agreed
...and, you're making it a petty issue with all the constant bitching and moaning you do.
As I have stated elsewhere... we will be reorganizing some of the boards, TV included ... now, there is no need to continue to complain about it. If someone wants to discuss a small market here and we have no where else to put it it in the time being.. let it be. If you must complain, send me a direct message. These posts are more of a distraction than the actual discussions of TV.
Here's what we have so far:
New York City TV
Los Angeles TV
Chicago TV
Philadelphia TV
Atlanta TV
Phoenix TV
New England TV (MA, CT, RI, VT, NH, ME)
New York TV (the state)
California TV (except LA)
Illinois TV (except Chicago)
Texas TV
The only top 10 markets without topics are Dallas, Boston, Houston, Washington, and San Francisco.
Honestly, Dallas and Houston are both covered in the Texas TV board and it works well. I'd love to see more posts about DFW television (and the whole state, for that matter), but there aren't enough to justify separate boards for Dallas and Houston, much less for all the outlying smaller markets.
The description of the National TV board says something to the effect of "anywhere in the country." It does help if everyone gives their posts an effective title. If there's a post for a market that doesn't interest me--it's easy enough to skip it!
Take that a step further, and simply change all of the radio-only fora (I was just admonished for not using the proper Latin plural) into combined "radio and TV" fora. That takes almost no work, almost no time, and solves the problem quickly, easily, and painlessly. All it would take is one of those yellow box messages that says, "OK, from now on, if you want to talk about television in any particular city, post it in the radio forum for that same city." What could be easier? Or take it a step further and post, "We're going to try something new. From now on, if you want to talk about television in any particular city, post it in the radio forum for that same city. We'll see how it works. If it does, we'll make it permanent."
People already do that in certain places, and so it makes it very hard to track TV news in local markets unless it's cross-posted here. Tracking 100 different individual message boards here for single threads of interest isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world.

The thing is, how many people who don't live in Indianapolis give a damn whether or not CBS changes affiliates in Indianapolis?
Also, Tribune has a major presence here in Hartford/New Haven with The Hartford Courant, our FOX and CW affiliate. Maybe it could somehow affect what I see here?![]()

WTTV Indianapolis Names News Teams
WTTV, Tribune Broadcasting’s Indianapolis station today announced the anchor teams for the station’s new morning and evening weekday newscasts, which will launch when the station’s CBS affiliation takes effect on Jan. 1, 2015.
Debby Knox, Bob Donaldson and Chris Wright (weather) will anchor the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts, while Marianne Lyles, Tim Doty and Lindsay Riley (weather) will anchor the 5 a.m. and noon newscasts.
Some of those forums are lightly used. The Chicago TV forum has just two threads in 2014. And this is for Chicago, the third largest TV market and a vibrant TV market. Maybe they could consolidate it into Midwest TV Forum, East Coast Forum, etc. - maybe six or seven regional boards.
My opinion but I don't like the idea of mixing radio with TV. I never check the radio forums, but will check the different regional TV forums even the ones where I don't live in.
WISH General Manager Les Vann, even with his station stripped of major-network entertainment and sports, is keeping his sights set on the top. For starters, the strategy is to expand news programming by four hours each weekday.
"We want to ultimately be the No. 1 independent television station in the country," Vann said. "With our rich heritage, we can build to that point. We're not starting from scratch here. This has been a very good television station for six decades."
Other stations have survived after losing network affiliation, leaning on a similar strategy of pumping up news. But with the Indianapolis market crowded with local TV news and Internet alternatives drawing viewers away from broadcast TV, the future appears challenging for WISH, which was long assured with CBS at its side.
