Indy Talk Radio

Well ESPN is unhappy with the signal of WXLW so im sure if WXNT would come a Callin. ESPN would probly Jump in a heartbeat to a better Signal. but then what would happen with WXLW. there isnt another sports Network for them to jump onto if the New Super talk 93.9 saddles up with Sporting News Radio. Just like 93.9's sister station WFTK-96.5 fm in cincinnati has done with its new talk format.

WXLW might be sold to Contemporary Media (IIRC) and made to simulast 820 AM.

Not likely, I don't suppose.

I doubt ESPN would work. They would have to rehaul the entire station. Plus it doesn't seem that sports talk really works as a station format unless you had the Colt's or Pacer's or the Races. Emmis pretty much owns those.
The Salem shows are ok, like Dennis Prager. Maybe Fox News Radio Shows? Who do they have?

WXLW only has the Indianapolis Indians and IUPUI basketball but they dont have much outside of those in terms of play by play. and WNDE Seems to stand by on Nascar and Purdue and Cincinnati reds. ESPN wants a better signal. they would jump in a heartbeat if WXNT wants to jump to Sportstalk if they cant get anything good to replace the ones jumping over to WISG

Savage isn't on XNT tonight. Greg Browning's sitting in and saying Glenn Beck will be back in this slot. Did anyone else see the piece in today's Star? Looks like the Song is flipping on the 26th.

Does this mean 1430 will be live/local in PMD? And since Cumulus has a penchant for naming their talkers "Supertalk", will we finally be spared of WXNT imaging every show as "Supertalk! with... "??!!

Nope...just you...and it's wishful thinking.
Jesus is the best Acoount Exec on North Shadeland.
The Song is making money impaled hand over fist, especially for its signal.
The only way SuperTalk ends up on 93.9 is if The Song is moving to the full-market signal of 104.5 when Jack is mercifully euthanized.

Hmmmmmm? Wishful thinking, huh? I guess my wish came true.

WFTK in Cincinnati, Cumulus' latest "Supertalk" station is horrid. I just hope 93.9 doesn't use that station as a template.

From the sound of it, though, 93.9 may have enough decent programming to pull the format off somewhat well.

Does anyone have a final scorecard as to what programs will make their way on 93.9?

I am not a huge Greg Browning fan, but I did tune in tonight to see if he was on, and to hear what he had to say, since it has been forever since he's been on. I wouldn't have done that if Savage was on, even though I like Savage.

So this begs the question... Can a talk station do well without a local presence, and what would it cost 93.9 to add at least one local show?

AHHH but they will... I'll leave aside the debate on this misguided flip, but "The Cloud" DOES have a "template"--toss on "free" off-sat talk, them combo sell it with a strong 25-54 in the house (WFMS)... Do little more than it takes for the formula to work. Expect NOTHING from this station... With the (odd) exception of Savage--these hosts are diving in the national ratings.

I won't scratch my head on this one (wouldn't give "Little" and "Mini" the pleasure) but consider this: "The Cloud" came upon heritage 630 WBMQ Savannah, Georgia a few years back. It WAS a 5kw day and night 3-tower array in a salt marsh east of Savannah in need of repair. "Little" and "Mini" decided they were tired of painting all those corroded towers, so they GAVE UP the 5kw night signal to move back to town on a diplex with the Gospel station--and happily accepted a REDUCTION to a mere 50-watt night signal on the former "big one" in Sav. Do some simple research... Find a similar case--NO--didn't think you found ANYTHING else like that going on in the corporate broadcast kingdom.

Meanwhile, CC was cheering from the stands as they stole several shows from WBMQ (including Rush, Savage, and Bortz) for their 1290 talker... REALLY... This is true! ...And "Little" and "Mini" were unarroused! OH... And since the power was down half the year during morning drive--they decided to fire a very good morning show and replace it with CNN Headline News... "The Cloud" seems to be a class act when it comes to News/Talk :D

So according to the XNT website, they've dropped Savage, and Ingrham.. all shows that are supposedly going to the Song.. but they still show Hannity in the lineup. Everything I've read says Song is getting Hannity... why didn't they drop him too? Are they really getting Hannity?

I am actually really glad the Beck is back on, on WXNT. He was starting to get a little too in love with his show, and I needed break. Who did they put on after Beck? I haven't heard the show.
If 93.9 doesn't get Hannity, what could they possibly put on? To me, it seems odd that he is the ONLY decent drive-time option. God forbid you have to pull out of the Air-America/Salem pool.

WXNT is airing Mike McConnell from WLW in Cincy after Beck. He recently started syndicating his show. He is followed by Alan Colmes in the Overnight. It's on the WXNT website.

Hannity, supposedly, will move to 93.9 in March.

So what or who will air in Hannity's spot on WXNT?

Glad they put the updated lineup on their website. They might want to consider putting the studio phone number SOMEWHERE on there. I looked everywhere for it last week when Burrows/Browning were on the air, but couldn't find it. Yahoo still has the studio line listing prior to the phone number change in 2003.

The song is switcfhing to mancow in the morning and other they are having there promo running and they say that you can still get uplifting music streaming on the website
