IS 105.7 GOING TO CHANGE???

^Q100 played hip-hop when it was big in the mid-2000s - it was just really slow to add new material (as usual), and kept tons of Hot AC stuff mixed in

I'm not sure that hip-hop is any less "polarizing" to soccer moms than dance is

Well it is. There's a HUGE difference between the two when it comes to lyrical content or even just the type of mood the melodies by itself delivers. Mainstream dance is a lot more soccer mom friendly. Well, at least for a majority of soccer moms nationwide. This is why there tends to be more dance-type songs on AC or Hot AC or even Adult Top 40 than hip hop-type songs. I don't even think Will Smith made it to most, if any, AC's. Yet people like Lady Gaga, Everything But The Girl, Real McCoy, etc. did. Even the trance version of "listen to your heart" by DHT plays on some AC's, and trance goes hard for dance music.

Let them play a Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Lil Jon, Eminem, Tupac, Kanye West, Missy Elliott, or even Nelly song on AC and see how fast many of their listeners tune out. But try Dj Sammy or Daft Punk or maybe Amber or even some of the current non-rap David Guetta productions and I'm sure that more listeners would "tolerate" that.

Not only that, but many AC's use the non rap versions of songs while they don't put the same effort into using the non dance versions of songs!

Sorry, I was talking about tracks that Q100 skipped, or played very minimally - in other words, Justin Bieber/Nicki Minaj/Flo Rida/PSY etc. as compared to Kanye/50 Cent/Jay-Z/Eminem

Lady GaGa to me would be the equivalent of Madonna in the 90s, and both were all over Hot AC

I almost avoided using Lady Gaga as an example because I knew it was too easy to rebuttal against.

I'm sure PSY was polarizing almost everywhere but got by simply due to the hype about it from other sources. I'm sure people's first thoughts upon hearing it the first time was "WTF?" ESPECIALLY in Atlanta. It makes Edward Maya sound 100% normal in comparison.

Justin bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Flo Rida etc. all have something in common. They are partially hip hop influenced and contain frequent rap verses.
