Is D. Ankarlo ever coming back?

..why TMISU don't hire The Nearly Bald One and push KFWhyEye down the stairs?!

Because, Edna in Sun City would stroke out if that happened.

And Monty would rebel.

Post-concussion syndrome is nasty and unpredictable. He could wake up tomorrow with the effects completely behind him; he could wind up (like many an ex-NFL player) with permanently diminished function that prevents him from ever getting behind the mike as a regular host again.

Give the station credit for continuing to maintain his place when/if he's able to return for as long as it has, but it's now approaching/at/well-past the point where a decision has to be made on a single foreseeable-future presence in the lineup. Whether that means backing Beck up into an earlier slot and bringing in another syndie yakker for the early afternoon, whether that means bringing a certain semi-retired KTAR vet back to his mid-morning perch, whatever; the slot just needs to be stabilized.

I noticed he isn't updating Twitter anymore. :-\

It's a sad story for anyone, really. If Ankarlo is unable to return to the air, I wonder if KTAR would give him a job in the office? I'm sure Pat wouldn't mind spending less time at the station and have Ankarlo take on some of his administrative duties. Who knows for sure. My thoughts and prayers are with Darrell and his family.

If I had my druthers, I would move Beck into the slot and have Austin Hill take over the afternoon slot. It would give listeners who don't like Rush something else to listen to. I would certainly enjoy having some more variety in the afternoons.

Anyhow, Darrell, if you are reading this, hope you get back in the saddle soon!

Take Dennis Miller from KKNT, and run live or after Beck.

Austin does a good job, but, I found Bruce St. James very listenable, especially during all the Michael Jackson babble.

Anything but mac and cheeze whiz

Thank you YKW for a clear and concise reply. Darrell's return is in the hands of the Lord, but yes KTAR is to be commended for not cutting this fine man loose.

Typically, a company must keep your job for at least 12 weeks while on short term disability. When/if it turns into long term disability, the company can move on.

What has happened to Ankarlo?
"Post-concussion" chat?
I ask sincerely.

I work nights and rarely listen to his show live unless I have to be somewhere during his show hours.
Love his articles in Phoenix magazine.

A traffic accident?

Thank you ykw.
I appreciate the update.
Seriously, this is the FIRST time I heard of Ankarlo and his injuries.
I have 92.3 locked on my car radio but have NEVER heard any reference to Ankarlo and his situation from FM or 620 nor any mention in the AZ Republic.
I may have missed the printing and/or broadcast of his situation, but Ankarlo can/could articulate a point that makes me rethink my stance.

I look forward to his full recovery.

Pretty much most of this is already known.

...that Lemons is a few eggs short of a dozen? I'd rather ask my Philipino neighbor here in Dallas his opinion on Ankarlo.

Relax...it's just the New Times. For more factual and unbiased reporting, Nurse Jeff and I highly recommend The Arizona Socialist Republic. Any Valley talker who sides with Sheriff Joe is open prey. Birds of a feather, indeed!

Thankfully, there are a couple of media outlets which balance the hard RIGHT leaning of most media in this city. ::)

I wish him a speedy recovery. But in the meantime....please....PLEASE ......get someone other than Austin Freakin Hill!! That guy KILLS me....
