It's a darn good thing Cumulus took ESPN brand away from 560 WNSR. That was a ratings coup, if you consider a consistent 1.0 share or lower worth the fight. A 97.1 change to Classic Rock or "Eagle" would be a repeat of 104.5 in the late 80's and early 90's. Kicks, Rock Hits, the Fox, Arrow, Groovin' Hits, Groovin' Oldies, Hot 104, ... . Did I leave one or two from this list? Yeah, I can't wait until 97.1 plays "Stay" by Jackson Browne four times a day (sarcasm). If 97.1 wants a power gold or nostalgia format, go all out. Play some disco, classic soul, 80's, even a 1950's blast every now and then. Toss in some cheesy, lesser hits. Add some deeper, quality hits. Try opening a music rotation to more than the same 250 to 300 songs repeated every day, or every other day.
"Eagle 97.1, hello caller."
"Uh, yeah we love the change to classic rock. We're tokin' a little doob here in Antioch and wuz wunderrrin' if you could play 'Free Bird'. Thanks."
"Caller, you got it, because that's what we do at the NEW Eagle 97.1, play the same OLD songs over and over."
